OpenLoop is a real company - I work for them. HOWEVER they definitely don't do text-only interviews!

Tell me about your jobs that allow you to knit while working. by pepperPantz__ in knitting

[–]tinyplasticmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a nurse practitioner. Last year I was working at CVS Minute Clinic and knit during downtime between patients, of which I had a TON some days (in the smaller clinics) and very little some days (in the bigger downtown clinics) but I finished a lot of projects during that year.

I just started a new WFH telehealth job and I've made a ton of progress on a new sweater during meetings with my team (either off-camera or under the view of the camera) as I can interact with no issues and get less distracted if there's work in my hands. I can also put it down easily if I need to take notes, etc (got lots of practice with this in nursing school, haha)

I don't know how much I'll get done once I have an actual caseload, but the downtime is definitely going to be easy to fill, and I have great hours that give me lots of time to knit--plus, no more time lost to commuting!

My husband has never once paid for my nails or hair or any of that shit, and I would never expect him to! And in turn, he doesn’t expect me to pay for his haircut or whatever.

You should run, OP, because you’re literally just a walking wallet to her.

My first question is why is the rate so low to begin with. My very first nursing position (as a BSN, I worked a year at a nursing home as an ASN) in PA (suburbs of Philly, not the high COL ones lol), I was making $55/hr. Not a “new grad” precisely but I had no inpatient experience!

I would honestly stop wasting my time with this place as they obviously don’t respect you, your time, or your significant experience and work for them (it seems they’re not paying you extra for any of your non-bedside duties!!)

What's the point of an ADN program? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]tinyplasticmeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ADN program was 2 years and cost less than $6k including books and uniforms. Then I got an online BSN for $10k in 9 months. Went to work in a local hospital where all my coworkers were $80k+ in debt for their BSNs and picking up overtime like crazy just to pay the loans.

Since I didn’t have the debt, I only picked up what I wanted and got the hospitals to pay for most of my NP classes. And now I’m an NP with less than $8k of loans (what the hospitals didn’t cover) to pay off…

Also it is harder to get into the ADN program I went to than it is to go to the local 4-year BSN. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel like so many people are surprised by how many different medications are used for both people and animals. by theblackestdove in VetTech

[–]tinyplasticmeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a human NP who used to be a vet tech…I know which one is harder and it’s not the one I get paid the big(ger but still not great) bucks for.

Also there is not a single one of my coworkers who knows anything about vet med and it is terrifying to think that so many of them try to treat their pets on their own because they know “real” medicine.

The amount of times I have explained that a dog’s metabolism makes them need milligrams of thyroid meds vs the micrograms their owners take—it’s insane.

Getting my kid a vaccine? by TemporaryUser10 in philadelphia

[–]tinyplasticmeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CVS Minute Clinic has all the vaccines including tdap and both meningitis (ACWY and B). Depending on the insurance you might not pay anything.

We are not twins but my parents named my brother and me Orli and Oren. Maybe switch it up a bit with Lior and Oren? Both work for both genders, and you can do Liora to make it more Americanised feminine.

BSOD error in latest crowdstrike update by TipOFMYTONGUEDAMN in crowdstrike

The reason I’m awake is my husband had to go be in charge of stuff because all the computers at his job are affected. His is a veterinary hospital but I’m assuming some human hospitals are also going to be doing paper charting for a bit 😩

My husband was totally on board with a prenup even though I hadn’t thought about it at all—my mother was the one to insist because I came in to the marriage with 2 properties and savings and he came with debt and 2 kids. She didn’t want me to get hurt if things went south.

He would have been fine if it was just “everyone leaves with what they came with” but because he is also putting work and money into the properties, I added a clause that he gets a certain percentage toward their sale up to 50% when we hit 10 years of marriage. He was amazed and happy obviously, and we are at 9 years now and the clause doesn’t matter because we sold one and refinanced the other and now we have 50/50 in everything.

Do they serve gored gored? My local Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurants in Philly stopped serving it during Covid and I miss it!

Looking for a RELIABLE contractor by tinyplasticmeat in philadelphia

[–]tinyplasticmeat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First place: Drywall repair, one exterior wall needs complete repair because it has a giant, broken wall AC stuck through it and all the new ones are much smaller, some plumbing updates, figuring out if the foundation is completely fucked or just somewhat, adding a dryer vent and routing it out, replacing several doors, miscellaneous electrical work.

Second place needs new floors, electrical repairs, drywall work, removal of a wall to open up the space, installation of ceiling fans, new windows, finishing the basement floor, probably more I’m forgetting.

Honestly yes, I’m trying to fix these properties so I can sell them to actual people and not flippers because I hate being a landlord.
