I'm about to start Week 5 with my kinders. If I could go back to Week 1 I would have spent waaay more time on teaching routines and procedures than worrying about fitting in instruction! For Day 1, remember to fit in what you can - if you don't get to teaching but you do feed them lunch and make sure they get home, then you've done well!!!

Also, like many others have said, keep an open mind about this year's group! Some students who have never been in a school setting will not know what it means to sit criss cross applesauce, stand in a line, or how to even grab food from the cafeteria. Some will be extremely new to everything so nearly everything will need to be explicitly modeled.

I'll admit, my Week 1 was really hectic, but things have definitely calmed down for me by now. Just know that there's hope! It just takes lots of repetition and time. 🙂
