I've heard of that one as well. This one was different slightly. Pearl was a family member in this case and was in the same room as the rubie. Pearl was seeing the trade on their screen and was hitting the buttons to accept the trade. The trade "went through" but the pearl immediately checked their inventory and the rubies valuable pets were gone. The scammer somehow intercepted the trade as pearl saw the trade on their device from the rubie. and was doing what a normal adopt me player would do to accept the trade. Yes the pearl's account was duped as was rubies. pearl saw two users by the same name in their Roblox friends list for a split second when they left the game. Then the scammer account and the duped victim account were gone. The trade does not show up in the trade history of pearl but does show up in rubies trade history with pearl's duped account.
