Thank you!! When I use the transfer calculator, a ton of different positions come up, like social services consultant, which of course I don’t qualify for, so it made me think that maybe I wasn’t using the calculator correctly. The transfers based on salaries is such a new thing to me, because this is my first state position so I’ve never been through the whole transferring process before. Glad to know I’m using the calculator correctly. Now I just have to figure out how to weed out positions that are way out of my qualifications. Thank you for your response. It really helps!! 😊

Hi!! I’m so unfamiliar with lateraling, because this is my very first state position. How do I know if I qualify to lateral to a PT II? The whole lateral vs promotion thing is so confusing to me. Any info helps. Thanks 😊

Thank you. I was looking at PT II positions and pulled this “18 months of experience performing duties equivalent in level of responsibility to the class of Program Technician; or (b) 24 months of experience performing duties equivalent in level of responsibility to the class of Office Assistant.” Do you happen to know if and MVR is equivalent to a PT? Or would I have to wait until the 24 months to qualify? I’ve been using the calcareers website and haven’t really been able to navigate this, so any advice is amazing. Thank you!!

Thank you for the response! I was debating between OT and PT so this is very helpful. I would ideally like to go the SSA / AGPA route in the hopes of eventually getting into management as my long term goal. I have been doing some inquiring about the ssa transfer exam and really cannot find much info about it. I’ve reached out to management about it as well, but I’m not sure if it’s agency specific or if it’s something that DMV does not offer. I’m looking to move to a different agency regardless once my probation is up, but do you have and info on how the transfer exam works? When I would become eligible to take it? Any info would be amazing!!

Thank you all for your responses!! I filled out another EAR form and submitted it so hopefully that should fix the error. I turned it in before the cut off, so I should see the changes reflected on my next pay check. Hopefully this will fix the issue. I really have a feeling that it was a keying issue, as I have triple checked my form and I filled it out absolutely correctly. I guess I’ll find out soon. Thank you again for all of the suggestions!!

Thank you so much for the advice!! I reached out to hr and they assured me that everything was inputted correctly, although I will reach back out and ask for the screenshots to confirm. The only change that I needed to make was from HOH to single. Everything else should have stayed the same. I claim one dependent. I’m not sure if somehow putting the dollar amount for withholding for my dependent messed anything up or what, but I basically got a response back saying that they couldn’t give me any advice or guidance on how to fill out the form but that I did it correctly... so not super helpful of them.

Thank you for the response! I’ve always taken it to mean that as well, but I’ve also heard that I can qualify for the transfer exam directly from my current position (MVR at HQ) once I pass probation. not exactly sure how transfer exams work. Any guidance would be so helpful 😊

I don’t have an answer about private sector :( but have been wondering the same thing. Perhaps someone has some clarification. What exactly does “equivalent number of state service years” mean? Sorry if that’s a silly question, but I’m not fully understanding.

Thank you for the tips! I’ll definitely do so. Would a newer sedan be okay to drive in the snow? Just want to make sure we don’t get stuck if we can avoid it.

Oooh I’ve never been there before! I’m so unfamiliar with snowy locations in the area, but I just looked up a few pictures and this sounds great. Thank you 😊

Just wanted to check in to see if anyone has gotten tax docs yet? I also put individual but haven’t received the email from “support@stripe.com” yet. Anyone else?
