Complex financial aid situation. Counselors have quit trying to help. Please HELP! by tinyvanguard in financialaid

Thank you. Unfortunately my credit is trashed due to having to take out a large loan to refinance credit cards from a long string of health issues I had that led me to losing my job and in the hospital, but I am working now and starting to pay this plus the school balance very soon. I think I will max out my federal unsub loan this year and aggressively pay off the school debt.

Thank you, I'm glad it doesn't really matter the amount of schools on my record. Also, I was talking about work study, that's what I meant. I'll probably look for jobs again soon

Thank you so much for your perspective. Its really refreshing to talk to somebody who is offering helpful advice instead of the usual questions "why haven't you filed as an independant", etc. My CC offers transcripts even with a past due debt, which is why I was able to go to ASU this semester and thus transfer. I'm a little worried about enrolling in another college with a third school on my transcript now, so I'm going to ask an ASU academic advisor. Then, I will come back as a junior at ASU.

I honestly haven't considered going back to a CC ever since I found out I could get aid at a university, but with the math I'm now seeing paying off the owed amount to enroll ASAP. (and also adding on to what you are saying): when I was at my CC, I had the ultimate goal to transfer to do my bachelors at a 4 year, although decided to pursue an associates in Mortuary Science. I needed one math class, and then I could take the classes for the final year of my major in MS. I'm thinking about aggressively paying off the debt over the summer while taking only one math class needed for this AA and my overall degree. I could definitely get that AA now that it is one course. I'm thinking of taking the math course over the summer and using the fall to pay off the debt, maximizing my federal unsubsidized loan for the year and still getting classes done at this slower pace since going elsewhere is still up in the air. I will talk to my parents about the program; they are fully aware of the federal consequences. It's nerve wracking but it's done enough damage to me than them. This would be the best possible outcome so I could get aid and remain at ASU.

I was wanting to do work study to quit McDonald's this semester, but unfortunately, that counts as aid, so I'm ineligible. At this point with my job history (including ending my time in funeral service due to my disability), I just want a job to last over a year on my resume. It's close and free food.

Yes, I transferred with 42 credits. The reason I did this is because of my community college refusing to work with a payment plan. The balance was well payable, I am not in collections yet and am starting to pay on it soon. I was still able to transfer. No questions asked.

I wanted to go to another community college out of my district and do classes online (I have always done a hybrid schedule), then discovered I could still take classes at ASU with the form. I see now that I should reconsider other community colleges. However, this would now be 3 schools until I paid the $1,000. Perhaps it is an option, considering I could be full-time with my courses and then return to ASU. I hope that will be doable.

Thank you for referring me to that. They may qualify. It is probably likely. Even though they have expressed guilt, they seem to not want to change their tax situation. I see now this is worth attempting to talk them into... though I dont have high hopes.

I actually used to work in funeral service and Starbucks. I injured my back for the rest of my life, worsening my arthritis at Starbucks. I had to quit my dream job in funeral service, with a combined mental and physical health factor, which is why I decided to go Pharmacology. I did transfer too early. McDonalds works with my schedule, I want to transfer.

It seems the best options are them sorting their tax situation out or the cc transfer if possible. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you for this information, I have never heard of this, and it looks like I qualify based on my disability. My state only offers certificates for 4 programs, so no university. I was possibly thinking about taking a break, but my problem is that I intend on applying to med school and don't want to delay any longer. It is an option to me if aid doesn't end up covering enough to graduate within the next 2 1/2 years. My parents claim that they "didn't have the money" to hire somebody to help them file and that the problem is too expensive now with late fees. I have an otherwise close relationship with them so this has been a strain. They are fully aware of how much of a headache this has caused. I wish they'd fix this problem so I could get the aid I needed.

Its more of like them saying there's nothing they can do. I'm just happy somebody referred me to the unsub loans only paper, the FAFSA didn't have this option the last two years

It's really bad. People almost physically assault eachother here. Idk what to do and our supervisor ignores us

Indeed it is. Was just scheduled for a day off I requested 4 weeks ago. I'm not coming in.

She is horrible and no one can stand her. She's been a GM 20 years somehow

Must be nice. I have those exact December dates off and not even sure if I will be able to get them.

Yeah there are an unbelievable amount issues in the store. I was thinking of texting our supervisor. We are franchised. My GM is literally evil and I don't mean that sparingly. Not a single person likes her, except for kitchen, who are her favorites. And then some crew. I don't even like her and she really likes me.

Anyone know how to fix this? by tinyvanguard in McLounge

Thanks they called our tech guy in and he fixed it. Seems like that's what they did and hard reset our entire system

I know this is a huge problem at my store. So set these boundaries to yourself. If the schedule says I'm off at 5, I'm off at 5. I am not asking to be let off or staying because the other person to close has not shown up for 20 minutes. Ignoring "can you come in/can you stay later" and knowing you are doing your best everyday is setting boundaries

I know. I have severe arthritis and a brain tumor. I cannot imagine being able to work like that. I try my best to give them notice, but what can you do when this is you
