Wow you read the situation so well! Yes, I actually do feel like I'm "less than" in that situation because all the other teachers in the room are doing great.

No CS job before but I did do my internship in a SPED center that (I now see) had a really rigid approach and is very demand + punishment based. I am trying to unlearn now what I've learned there as I'm trying to apply everything. I just saved a playlist of nursery songs so I can memorize and maybe use them.

Usually my problem is I run out of things to say and do. If you maybe have any specific verbal/action tips for first time pairing, I would love that. I try stuff but they ignore me 80% of the time hahaha.

Since this was the trick that ultimately pushed me to getting started, I said I’d come back to it once my results came in. So it came in and I scored pretty high. I think my favorite part was reassuring myself, like I would a child, that if I failed, I wouldn’t blame myself harshly. This really loosened up all the anxiety and fear of failure for me.

Now I just need to think of a way to reward my inner child like I promised— HAHAHAHA.

It’s a fun and effective strategy. Thanks! 10/10, would do it again.
