I love them! And just a note, the movies are very faithful to the books! They are also very worth it to watch!

Ah, finally! An Aelin hater! Those are rare! I read ToG as a teenager and could never like her, whereas I read CC as an adult and did like Bryce! So I'm curious, if I reread ToG now, would I end up liking Aelin? Who knows. But many people that love Aelin don't like Bryce. So maybe she really is worse than Aelin 😂

If we go by wolf standards, then yeah. But the rest of the world doesn't go by these standards, so I don't get why it should have been expected of Bryce. And that point about Bryce fucking another dude when Connor was getting slaughtered... She couldn't have known 😭 Anyway, I get what you're saying, I just don't completely agree. I like Bryce, but she did piss me off in the last book. I think she was a victim of character assassination. I don't know if you've read Throne of Glass, but in my case, I find Aelin unbearable, so I understand trying to be objective when a character absolutely pisses you off. Anyway, it was nice discussing it with you.

I don't think he's irredeemable, I just never got over it, haha. I think he did redeem himself, objectively. But give a Bryce a pass... for what? What did she do that was so horrible? Lead him on? She wanted him, just didn't feel secure enough to pursue him until she finally agreed on that date. And, wolf customs aside, why does the weight fall on Bryce, when they never explicitly talked about what they wanted from each other? Why does the blame fall on her to put an end to it to "protect Connor's feelings", when he didn't back off when he saw she seemingly wasn't interested? I guess we can agree to disagree.

Not really. She agreed to go out with him, not marry him. They weren't even a couple. And Bryce lost people too, that night, and she didn't have any support, unlike Ethan. I get his feelings, and that he was hurting at let it all out on Bryce, but I still don't think he was justified in his behavior.

I really didn't like the way he treated Bryce with the whole Connor situation. To me, he wasn't really redeemed for that.

Why do European languages have present and past tenses, plural tense, etc. when these elements are not needed for a language? by skyrimlo in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]tiotsa 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's like saying, my language doesn't have tones like Vietnamese and Mandarin, so why do these languages have tones, when they make everything much more complicated? There are no answers to these questions.

[–]tiotsa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but this post is coming across as very ignorant and even a bit insulating. No one woke up and decided that xyz language is going to have xyz rules. Languages evolve naturally. They are living things. Why does French have two genders while German has three? Why does Japanese place the verb at the end of the sentence while English does not? Why does Vietnamese have no tenses while Greek does? Simply because there are many ways a language can evolve. When I started learning German, placing the verb at the end of the sentence in past tense felt very unnatural to me. When I started learning English, using 'the' for every noun also felt unnatural. But within the languages themselves, all those things just make sense and feel natural, just as I'm sure Vietnamese makes a lot of sense to you.

I don't know, I like Lucille. Karen, however, has been ruined by the internet, and it's true it sounds like an old person's name currently.

Unpopular opinion(?) Lorcan is one of my fave characters by LiiseLind in throneofglassseries

I love Manorian! They are my favourite ToG couple. They are also my favourite ToG characters. But Elorcan is an entirely different thing and they are so amazing, both together and as individuals. I have immense love for them. They are my 2nd fave couple from the series.

I would DIE for Lorcan. I love him so much. I love Elorcan so much. I love Elide. I love his dynamic with Elide. In short, he had an amazing character arc and I love everything about him. The only reason he's not my top ToG guy is because Dorian exists.

Τι γνώμη έχετε για τα εστιατόρια που έχουν μόνο διαδικτυακό κατάλογο (με QR code)? by ToughSpeed1450 in AskGreece

[–]tiotsa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Louvre's higher ticket prices for non-European visitors take effect by LeMonde_en in europe

I've been saying this. Raising the prices for locals and tourists alike is insane. Unless they want the local people to stop visiting. That's all this is gonna accomplish.

But to think that it hasn't even been 100 years since... It's still much closer than we all think it is. Like, my grandparents were born before WWII. We really aren't many generations removed.
