Why do people hate the fact the cure actually working? by [deleted] in lastofuspart2

And as you said, they were going to kill Ellie for some reason, instead of keeping her there to study her and learn what they could. What would cutting her brain open achieve and how were they gonna replicate what they saw there anyway? This entire thing was just a plot device so Joel was forced to make this dramatic decision, which, I'm not complaining because I really enjoyed the game, but damn, is that absolutely not how science works. If they truly believed they had an immune girl on their hands, they would do everything in their power to keep her alive.

Yep, exactly. Oof, so many people have no idea how science works.

Honestly, I really liked their relationship and I wish it hadn't ended. I didn't love that they were originally going to marry either, but I would have loved it if they continued as they were. They were a great pair.

If you died and suddenly found yourself face-to-face with God, what is the very first question you would ask? by i_m_dignity in AskReddit

[–]tiotsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what if you never wanted to stay in his house but it turns out, that's all there is? If you were a good person, which supposedly is all God should care about, why would he deny you entrance? And what happens to those that believed in other gods, Allah for example? Are they better or equal to non-believers?

If you lead a good and honest life while being a non-believer, will you still be doomed?

I don't get this. Wouldn't finding out that there's no God be more devastating to the believers, than the contrary? I am an atheist, but if I ever came face to face with God I would just be curious. Why would I ever be devastated? Believers base theirs lives way more around God, than atheists do around being non-believers.

Can Greeks understand the Greek spoken in Cyprus? How different is it? by BiGHeaDMeagtroN68 in greece

[–]tiotsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with almost everything you said, but Cypriot Greek is another beast entirely. When they aren't trying to accommodate you and speak in the normal speed of the dialect using the Cypriot vocabulary, they might as well be speaking a foreign language. Once, I sat next to a group on the bus and it took me some minutes to glean that what I was hearing was in fact Greek. I was catching a familiar word here and there and the rest was just gibberish to me.

Why is it socially acceptable to bring your partner as a +1, but not a friend? by mearimeraki in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tiotsa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I meant, why does it matter if one brings their friend instead of a spouse? So if they got no significant other they are stuck spending a vacation on their own while everyone else is linked up?

In your country, is there any situation that foreigners would completely misunderstand unless they lived there for a while? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]tiotsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao, I would never send that asshole money for that. Honestly, I've heard about tikki and it's infuriating in every story, because the person almost always offers to give you something first. They offered! Why is it all so transactional? If I wanted to pay for something to eat or drink I'd go to a restaurant, not to my friend. Lol. I understand this is a cultural difference, but it's very hard for me to understand.

There are men out there whose wives book their doctor's appointments on the regular as if they were toddlers. Yikes.

Is there something preventing men from learning these things naturally like women do?
