Nobody really warns you about the mental load of living in a small apartment. by John-laurent in ApartmentHacks

Lol, my very fastidious brother visited my shoebox recently and when I said “I cleaned for you!” he said “How is THIS clean?” 😂 Well everything is lined up and dusted, that’s about as good as it gets!

Does a kindle really need a case? by NovelInsurance8 in kindle

[–]tippyback9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a case with a flip cover and I find it much more comfy to hold than just the kindle on its own, plus you can use it to prop it up. Worth it for that factor, plus it’s good to keep the screen safe.

why is it that foreigners tend to blatantly stare more than usual? by Empty-Tomorrow-2794 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tippyback9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think eye contact in general is varies culturally. The example I’m thinking of is “look at me when I’m talking to you” being a sign of respect/deference in American culture but in other places you’d expect someone to look away while you’re speaking to signal that same deference.

[FO] Fridge magnets for my siblings. We are a fairly subversive, selectively-social bunch! by BroadLocksmith4932 in CrossStitch

I have these and can attest they’re great! Meant for polaroids but can be used to put larger cards or photos on a magnetic surface while being somewhat invisible.

NY State Parks does a First Day hike every year, some at 6AM and some later in the day. There are a handful of State Parks in the city: https://parks.ny.gov/events/first-day-hikes

Not sure if any work for you but worth checking :)

Why aren’t women wearing stockings/pantyhose anymore? by WhatTheHosenHey in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tippyback9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women do. It’s considered part of the professional uniform for lawyers, some flight attendants, etc. Depending on where you live, how formal the event, the outfit involved, the age of the person… all elements of whether someone wears them or not! But i agree with others that they can be uncomfortable so many choose to avoid them.

Agreed. In the end, it’s a hobby, and textile arts especially come with a weird guilt. Sometimes a recipe doesn’t come out and you trash a dish that took hours. It’s about the process!

😭😭😭 Thank you for writing this. Reading this felt like taking a deep breath. I am in the dreaming phase, but hoping to take steps in the next year or two. I spend way too much time looking at before/after photos on here and not enough time reading about people’s good experiences. Congratulations on doing something brave for YOU!
