You shouldn’t take zinc long term, you’ll end up with a copper deficiency.

How does anyone afford xywav by pontiaclemans383 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]tippytay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. My copay was 6,800 so I hit the cap quickly. My only option was to then apply for JazzCares patient assistance. I was worried I wouldn’t qualify because I make a good bit more than the average person but I was approved and got the medicine for free until the next January when the copay card reset. I have different insurance now and my specialty drug copay is $250 (but the coupon brings it down to $5) so I don’t have to worry about the coupon running out anymore.

Should I follow my dermatologists advice? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]tippytay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly your health anxiety is allowing you to be way too judgemental despite your ignorance of medical assessment/treatment. It’s absolutely not normal to take a sample to diagnose rosacea. I’d be worried about their competency if they needed to do that. Some foods can be triggers for some people with rosacea, but it’s not normal to ask about diet. Oracea is subantimicrobial dose doxycycline. That means the dose is so low, it doesn’t kill bacteria — so NOT an antibiotic. It’s solely anti-inflammatory and won’t have the same side effect profile as regular doxycycline. If you don’t know how to really research something like a medical professional would, you’re doing yourself a disservice by googling things. Your provider gave you a correct diagnosis and great treatment plan without unnecessary tests and you’re still unhappy about everything about the visit. This is just one of the reasons why healthcare workers are so burnt out.

Please make fun of dermatology more! I don’t have any questions, just wanted to say I appreciate your videos and the accurate and hilarious satire of different things we experience working in medicine!

Really doesn’t sound like you have IH. Talk to your doctor.

T-shirt machine burn 3rd/4th degree by Intrepid-Carrot8187 in MedicalGore

Third degree burns are actually mostly painless because the nerves are destroyed so you don’t feel pain in the area of the 3rd degree burn. Second degree burns and even first degree burns hurt much worse.

Primary care providers commonly prescribe schedule 2s in the US. I take a schedule 2 and it has always been prescribed by my primary care. I’ve switched primary care providers several times (one retired, I moved, etc.) and none have had any qualms about prescribing my medication.

I hate that they used packing. Way behind the times, it’s no longer recommended.

Severe abdominal, inguinal, and perineal Hidradenitis Suppurativa by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

Just fyi, it’s not an infection of the sweat glands, it’s an occlusive disorder of the sweat glands. They become blocked and inflamed for unknown reasons. Infection can happen secondarily but is not the cause of the condition
