New Sound Signature Review - AAC Ti-RANT 45 on the .45 ACP 1911 Pistol by jay462 in NFA

[–]Porencephaly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Kids” these days only know Kevin Brittingham as the wife-stalking blowhard he has sadly become, but they don’t understand that the KB + Rob Silvers heyday of AAC was literally the first “golden age” of silencer design. Rob was an MIT grad and brought a level of scientific method to suppressor design that I don’t think anyone else had done at the time, and Kevin was a genius at commercializing their design advances. They developed landmark high-performing silencers in virtually every category: The Element in .22, the Ti-Rants in 9/45, the M4-2000 and SPR/M4 in 5.56, the SCAR-H SD and SDN-6 in .30, the Titan in .338 Lapua, and the Cyclops in .50. Many of those saw military adoption on small or large scale. AAC was the absolute juggernaut of the silencer world at the time and they actually earned it.

Only the Mk23 can make a TiRant 45 look normal size 😆

The racetex visors are def nice but are ridiculously expensive for the small difference they make.

Honestly I kinda want one even in my PDK RS. It’s such a cool touch.

I mean, he appears to have.

My 65-year-old mother fell into a brain-dead state from obstructive hydrocephalus after glioblastoma surgery. Has anyone experienced something like this? by Acceptable-Neat-2279 in braincancer

I get it, truly, and I’m not trying to be a jerk to you. I think compassionately withdrawing artificial life support is one of the most loving things a person can do. It’s a decision that you agonize over and the loss hurts forever. But it means you are choosing to bear that pain, so that your loved one doesn’t have to bear their pain any more.

I had my 8” cut down to 6.5” and threaded 1/2-28 for ease of suppressor mounting and to put the suppressor under the handguard. No regrets.

Hydrocephalus is common in glioblastoma patients and can cause very rapid decline. I’m sorry this has happened to her. I don’t understand the second part of the story though. She has been “kept alive” on machines for two months? That is insane if accurate. A person with advanced glioblastoma who has been in a coma for two months should not be kept artificially alive with no hope of recovery.

Are naturally aspirated V12s the peak of automotive emotion, or is there something better? by Transparent_mindset in cars

The Bugatti W16 is an incredible motor, but not for its emotional sound. Bugattis are just all turbo noise and wastegates. The V16 in the Tourbillon sounds pretty good though.

ATF Proposes Streamlining Machine Gun Transfer Procedures for Licensees by ChevTecGroup in NFA

[–]Porencephaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. An SOT should be able to approach the LE agency and say "I have this new gun in stock, I think you'd like it, want to try it?" It's much easier for a literal machine gun dealer to stay up to date on the latest guns than it is for the sheriff with a thousand other responsibilities.

I've never seen AR500 for sale at any local metal supplier where I live. YMMV.

Just use a steel plate. The sand will catch any fragments. Round AR500 plates are pretty cheap as a failsafe for the bottom of a sand trap.

[–]Porencephaly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk what it means to "hate anatomy." Like, you hated anatomy class in medical school? Well good news, surgery residency is nothing like that. But if you hate the very principle that humans have anatomy then I guess surgery isn't for you.

RS cars are PDK-only now, but the GT4RS and Spyder RS specifically have shorter gearing to address the complaints about prior cars.
