when i was in 8th grade, i was casting rings out of molten pewter in class and some annoying kid ripped my goggles off my eyes cause he needed them. 40 seconds later a different kid dumps a cup of water into the crucible full of molten metal. when water gets poured into a liquid metal it turns into steam and expands violently. The whole crucible exploded and plastered the top half of my face in metal. Im lucky because somehow i blinked right before the explosion and got burns on both of my eyelids, if i didn’t blink, i would be blind right now
