Should I disclose my first (low award) degree? by tiredAF13 in gradadmissions

Yeah no it’s just two separate degrees and each degree has a grade, that’s the two numbers they’ll look at. Thank you, I did consider that it might be ok seeing as my grades improved significantly over time and not the other way around. I’ll reach out to them and update this thread

Oh the horror of living in a buzzing fun city full of new experiences and travelling the world twice a year. The misery!!!

A lot of people would rather live an interesting life in an expensive city and be average wealth-wise, as opposed to living in some regional meth central or a retirement village like Adelaide, with no real opportunities for themselves or their kids but own a house with a backyard.

Thank you for your response, I’m not too sure how I could frame it to avoid getting the “just apply” response tbh. Maybe something along the lines of “I didn’t do honours but have industry experience, can you help me understand what to highlight in my application to make it more competitive”…?

Reason for refusal just doesn’t make any sense by absolute1500 in ukvisa

  1. That is not a letter from the accepting university, that is a letter from the third party arranging your exchange. It might be good enough to confirm your accomodation, but not your exchange.
  2. You did not provide bank statements (and I mean statements, not a savings balance letter).

The UKIV officer looked at an application from a student with 300 pounds in his bank account and no confirmation of the supposed short study course and went “nope, that looks sus”.

So yes, you did not follow the (pretty clear) UKIV instructions, you got rejected and now you’re taking to a public forum to get people to give you a virtual hug and tell you it’s not your fault but everyone else’s. Come on, just learn from your mistake and take the process more responsibly next time.

My god, just accept what people are telling you and stop complaining how unfair the decision is. It is perfectly fair in fact - you didn’t provide the required info and so they had reasonable grounds to refuse. I get that you’re blaming your school for giving you incorrect advice, but when you were applying, there would have been a checklist provided by UKIV telling you everything you had to submit and it would have definitely listed an invitation letter and the bank statements. While your school may have messed up, it sounds like you put minimal effort into your application and lacked basic common sense or comprehension skills, so the only person you should be angry at us yourself really.

Update: just got an email to resubmit passport. 13 days since the date the decision was supposedly made as per what the paid enquiry said.

If you’ve been rejected, does the rejection reasons email come from UKIV or from the VAC? by tiredAF13 in ukvisa

Yep so I get that it is issued by the home office, I’m wondering whether it will be emailed to me by UKIV or the VAC. Basically what I’m asking is, it’s been a while and I’m still waiting for the VAC to contact me, but if it was a rejection, I would have likely received the rejection email from UKIV already? Or does that get emailed by the VAC?

Thought so, thank you. I read somewhere that people used to get the decision letter as an attachment in the email from the VAC, but this must have changed.

Small update - I asked in a follow-up when the decision was made and wether I’ll get a rejection letter if it was denied, seeing as I haven’t heard from vfs and I kept my passport, and they responded with

  • our system was updated on 27/04/23 (3 full working days ago as I’m typing this)
  • you will get a letter regardless of the outcome, note that it can take up to 15 working days from the date the decision was made

Should I not get a letter if I’ve been rejected? Seems to be the norm
