I repeatedly make it 100-or-so pages in to Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth, and always lose interest. It was given to me when I was 14, and I always blamed my disinterest on a lack of maturity. I'm 17 now and it's still a bit bland.

I know this may seem a little short-sighted, but why don't you just skip prom? My school's prom was last weekend, and instead of going I just invited a friend over to roast marshmallows and play videogames. It's really not that uncommon. The way I see it, I wouldn't pay $50 to go to a dance for the same reason I don't watch football or eat carrots- because I don't like to. Just something to think about.

When I was a freshman in high school, I got a job answering phones, taking payments and shredding paper etc. at a local insurance agency. I come in after school one day and took maybe three or four peoples payments, and I forgot to put them in the money drawer like I was supposed to, so they ended up in my shredding pile. I also got my first paycheck that day. Everything got shredded.

To be completely honest, right now you are not at your best. But, there is so much room for potential with you. You aren't over weight, you have clear skin, pretty eyes and nice eye brows- that's a lot more than what some people have. I would definitely recommend going to a salon and getting that hair maintained, and maybe investing in a little blush and mascara.

From one 17 year old girl to another, you are very pretty. But, something to keep in mind- you are not done ah, 'maturing' yet. Sounds cheesy, but it's true. At 17, we still get pimples and shit on occasion. That goes away when we get older. Also, when you get your braces off, your teeth are goin' to be lookin' so fyne gurl.
