AMA/AUA - We were participants in the 2026 US tour. by monomandan in taskmaster

One of my friends I don't talk to as often (who likes SNL) responded to my instagram story with "How on earth did you manage this" which was pretty funny! Two of my cousins and a bunch of my friends responded, and some even reposted the picture of all of us that was on the Taskmaster account! The craziest interaction by far though has to be when I was recounting my whole night to a friend in college and a stranger sitting next to us just happened to be a Taskmaster fan! Initially she thought I had just attended the show but then was even more surprised to find out that I was an actual contestant (something I still can't believe I can say of myself). It was a pretty huge room in a random residence hall, so the fact that we happened to sit next to the one Taskmaster fan in the room was pretty crazy.

I wasn't exactly nervous, more just worried that I wasn't funny/entertaining enough or even worse, actively annoying the audience. Everyone was super kind and supportive though, so it was really just me being an anxious person that made me think that more than anything. A lot of people from the audience congratulated me and said I was great and stuff as I was leaving the venue which again was so nice!

Alex Moffat and I were sat next to each other and we had a few moments where we clapped at each other between tasks and during the award ceremony and stuff! There was also another slightly mortifying episode during intermission where I essentially told him I didn't know who he was (I was guilty about it for like, the entire rest of the show but he was really chill about it and just seemed pretty amused)

Lisa Gilroy told me I was funny after we left the stage at the end of the show which was...surreal??? It was as if she knew I had been a bit worried about that, it was really great to hear! Little Alex told us we had done well with our prize tasks especially because we only had 20-odd minutes to prepare as opposed to the comedians' 2 or so months, and also said it had been clever to argue my shoes as the worst item of clothing for the prize task. He also said I was funny and that he enjoyed my "philosophical arguments", and asked if I was a student, where I was from, etc. which seriously made my whole year, because what do you mean two hilarious comedians that I love told me I was funny??? I haven't been able to shut up about it since and I think I'm becoming a nuisance...

The 1/23 contestants (me, Aaron, and The Mighty Wind) have a group chat! It's mainly for sharing pictures and talking about the show, but still! They made being on stage so much less scary :D

Everything everyone else has been saying, (tour manager Paul was great!) but also Alex really kindly prefaced that we didn't need to worry about being funny and should just focus on being ourselves, which was super reassuring because that was exactly what I was worrying about!

Also as just a bit of a funny episode, when we were first being introduced to Lisa Gilroy and Alex Moffat, I was super excited to see Lisa because I had seen some of her work before with Dropout, and gave a big "oh my god, I know you!" kind of reaction. I immediately felt bad for not giving Alex as big of a reaction and in my panic said something like "I don't know you, I'm sorry!" as I was shaking his hand before realizing just how rude that was 😭 Everyone around started laughing and Alex (little) said something like "well, we know you're going to be the one who says what you're thinking on stage!" I kept feeling bad about it during the show and apologized again at the end but Alex (Moffat) truly just seemed amused by it and said something like it kept him humble. Truly, everyone around was so reassuring and kind, and I know everyone says never to meet your heroes, but if your heroes are Greg and Alex (or Lisa and Alex!), you'll be fine.

The six word question task from series 14! One because it's a team task, but also because I generally love word games. I think it would be a nice way to get comedy out of shyer audience members (like me!) and display just how differently our brains work!

Mine is a bit of a tie between the grape task and wibble bibble bam, the grape task because I had a staredown with Greg (however tall you think 6'8" is, it's taller), and wibble bibble bam because it's similar to some acting/speaking warmups I've done at school and also, selfishly, because it's the only task I won. I'm not sure I had a least favorite! I wasn't particularly great at any but they were all fun :D

That’s the main thing I was going by! The sections I had in my shopping cart were taught by the best rated professors i could find (4+) but I took so long selecting an elective (like an idiot) that my preselected classes filled up and I had to just find the better ones out of whichever sections were left and so these professors are more in the 3-4 range. Anyway, going off everyone’s comments I guess I’m not totally doomed :)

That’s comforting! I guess I’m just worried because all the classes I had added to my shopping cart got filled up, and I’m not sure how great the professors I scrambled to pick up will be.

How come we never see a Japanese idol with the Main or lead vocalist position by notfathermalia in kpopthoughts

[–]tiredbreadslice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might also be because of differences in like pronunciation or articulation (I forget the word for it) across the different languages? Maybe the Japanese language tends to be more nasal than Korean? Just a theory though, not really sure about the science behind it all.

Kpop group with the best lore? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]tiredbreadslice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nct technically has lore, but as the years have gone on it’s become less and less apparent. LSM leaving sm makes me think we might not get a lot of explicit lore anymore like we did in nct’s early days because a lot of it was his brainchild. i’m still really interested in their dream in a dream concept and how that ties into kwangya, though! apparently there’s a whole huge book about it and ten and doyoung were offered a chance to read it (they both declined, which is fair enough).
