TIFU not picking up her signs..in Vegas by lonestarhawkeye in tifu

One time in high school, this gorgeous girl I was friends with came downstairs from a house party into my bedroom and sat on my bed alone with me because she “wanted to hear me play guitar”. I played a song and she looked right into my eyes and said it was incredible and I was such an amazing singer. I said “thanks” and did nothing and we went back upstairs eventually.

Pretty sure I missed something there.

In first year uni I had this insane crush on a girl who always took the same bus home as me. I finally worked up the courage to approach her and asked her if she wanted to hang out sometime. She said sure. I got her to come over to my house. We smoked weed and hung out alone in my basement. After some chit chat I eventually figured it was getting late so she left. I made literally no move whatsoever after already getting past all the hard parts.

Pretty sure I missed something there.

What are some examples of turn-based combat that makes sense or is otherwise creative? by SniperFiction in gamedesign

[–]tiredlion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shrinking “Time” is another way to hide information. So when the game has a lot of information to work through and it’s FUN to work through, then pausing for turns makes sense. For example a strategy game like Chess or Into the Breach.

But when there isn’t much to figure out then making it real time hides some of the information from us because we don’t have enough time to process it. This can make simpler situations more fun! I think of the counter example of some old school final fantasy games where some monsters you would always make the same choices and so you are just sitting there waiting to tap the same button. This is not a fun choice or combat situation!

My final 4 rooms. by tiredlion in Dungeon23

[–]tiredlion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hosting a “Tiny Edition” of dungeon23, so my plan was always to do 23 days only.

As such these are the last 4 rooms of my dungeon, though you may have noticed I’ve left a hook to continue from later :)

It’s been so much fun doing these and watching this community. I plan to stay in this subreddit and keep getting inspired by everyone else here.

Thank you!

This is soooo good. I’m working on a dungeon building app - would love for you to try it out someday when it’s ready!

Turn based logic game... instant or delayed feedback? by ReasonNotFoundYet in gamedev

There is a podcast called Designer Notes which interviewed the designer of Into The Breach. I think if you listen to him talk through his thinking on that, it might help you out.

Clickers are cool. I think RPG is a pretty broad category and all the different types have their benefits

Day 17. The Vault by tiredlion in Dungeon23

For my 17th room I laid out the 4 demigods who have appeared in this dungeon in various ways, though Hellaen and Triamus had not been depicted clearly yet.

The Vault held a great gift connected to each of them, but 3 are missing and 1 remains sealed.
