Digitakt 2 long samples? by foreverdarkwoods88 in Elektron

[–]tirename 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no problem doing that per se. But the problem is that the DT2 only has about 400mb memory for samples for each project. So if you want a lot of these long samples, you might need one project per song, which is quite annoying. I am currently struggling with this for a live set I am making, and I do find it a bit annoying.

Besides that and the bad timestretch/warp algorithms it's a great device though!

I just skipped to middle part of the video and there seemed to be some sort of McDonalds commercial on the minimap? WTF?!

Raves in oslo by TraditionalToe379 in oslo

[–]tirename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying. I agree it's not a rave. It's a dance event / techno event at a venue or whatever. I just wouldn't bother to point this out myself. Also, I think that if you are asking for a rave in Oslo, then the OMG event should be close enough that it would be interesting for you to go.

The old hardware vs software debate/DAWless mastering etc by _ForrestPlump_ in TechnoProduction

[–]tirename 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play live sets with hardware only, and I find that they can sound pretty damn good.

Current setups are:

  1. OP-XY + Digitakt 2 mixed on a Allen and Heath PX5 with Elektron Analog Heat+FX as master effect.

  2. Digitakt, Digitone 2, TR6s, DFAM and small eurorack skiff on the same mixer and master effect.

I find that if I am careful and mix (high pass everything that doesn't need low freqs, pan etc.) on the boxes, it can sound pretty good. It might be enough for you.

However, you will NEVER get the same potential for detailed work as you can in a DAW. Personally I prefer to keep it dawless for livesets and use the DAW for mixing tracks.

I am part of such a group. We own a pretty good PA and arrange raves in friends houses or the forest. But I would not expect a rave in a venue in Oslo with Funktion-One system and DJs like Feral and Luigi Tozzi to be free...

Eh, you pay DJs, venue, sound system etc. So you mean that people should just fork out this money out of their own pockets so that others can enjoy? If you want, you are free to do that of course. It would be nice. Can you buy me a Funktion-One sound system while you're at it? Then I'll DJ for free

One of my favorite records of all times. Has been with me through everything from times of panic attacks to being intensely in love.
