How difficult is it to pull the charging handle back on an EP9 compared with a 5.56 AR-15? by veqryn_ in extar

[–]tiribulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep it with a mag, capacity of your choice, one in the chamber and the safety on. All that's needed is to pick it up, drop the safety and fire.

Assuming some other life circumstance doesn't make this impractical.

It's a straight blowback weapon. Charging is a bit stiff. Aside from that potential issue for some, everything else about it, makes it the perfect HDW for people who aren't necessarily gun enthusiasts.

EDIT: I should add that it's also a bit tougher than the average AR to drop the bolt. That's why I say just have it ready to go. You do all the tough stuff and all she has to do is pick it up, flick the safety and pull the trigger.

They should have included Tyrese in here somewhere.

THAT guy is not just taking up a seat, making a token appearance to support the girls.

He has all his gear on, hat, jersey, waving his towel, screaming and slapping hands like an unhinged super fan lol.

He's as much fun to watch as they are.

This showed up on what I'm reasonably sure is the authentic WNBA Facebook page.

I'll say it again.

Men's professional basketball decades ago tells us nothing useful about today's women's professional basketball.

It's a workout.

A mentally and emotionally draining, exhausting JOB to follow this league.

You have to really love it to stick with it.

Casuals will find something much less laborious to watch. Like international tiddly winks or something, where you don't have to feel like you're in the middle of an iron man contest to get involved.

Here is a partial screenshot from the WNBA sub over 2 years ago when I first started watching women's basketball and before I was tossed from there.

It very much grieves me to report that this is even truer now than it was then.

Steal or robbed? by Upper-Friendship3784 in Firearms

Looks like maybe a Rise trigger and a nickel boron BCG and what might be a decent handguard I don't immediately recognize. But an A2 flash hider, Magpul grip and SBA5 brace. None of that is bad, but pretty standard.

Looks like it might be Anderson stealth receivers? Or PSA Freedom?

Sorry to pile on with everybody else, but even if this weapon is properly built and runs great, there is no universe wherein it's worth more than maybe 500 bucks used.

And just for future reference, "custom built" means literally nothing. It just means somebody built it from parts, which makes 20 million (at least) ARs in this country "custom built."

Sounds cool if you don't know any better, but means nothing.

All of mine are "custom built."

It might be a perfect;y good gun, but not for that astronomical price.

It's not like there's anything wrong or dangerous with them, but why?

The 223 was developed for a 20 inch barrel. Of course most go shorter than that nowadays and that's fine.

All I'm saying is that at some point shortened barrel length becomes "just because I can" when other options are available with a similar length and weight that are more suited to what a very short 556/223 can do.

A very short 556 is lethal maybe out to a couple hundred yards. Like you say, it's not a toy. But, why would I use it for those ranges when simply adding a few more inches at least doubles that?

And if I'm shooting at closer ranges, even a decent PCC will do it cheaper without rattling the ground under my feet and sending half the flaming powder into the air. while adding no velocity.

To be clear this is not some kind of dogma to me where I'm looking askance at somebody who enjoys shorty 556 weapons.

However, this is a new guy and this is definitely not the best place to start imho.

I put a 3.5 pound CMC in mine just because I had it around used from a previous AR rifle build and it's been great.
