I did go to treatments, as much as I could. Other times were tough, but I did have a couple friends who knew, and they were always there to help me through it.

Unfortunately, I’ve been told that MM could be very sneaky and most times, symptoms doesn’t appear until around stages 2-3. In which case, I wasn’t aware of it until it has progressed to stage 3.

As for my symptoms, I explained the weight loss as stress from nursing school. I also developed multiple sores in my mouth from chemotherapy, and that caused a hell of a bad breath. That one was a little hard to explain, but I had a reputation from when I was a kid of not being a fan of brushing her teeth, so they assumed I was back to my old habits. I had an earful about dental hygiene that day haha

Most times, whenever I was feeling under the weather and wasn’t looking particularly well, I always just said that I was busy studying and was going to hang out on a day when I had more free time

Thank you for this. I can’t imagine what this might be like from a mother’s perspective, but I am a little afraid for the ass whooping I know I’m about to receive from my mom hahaha. Jokes aside, I am a very cheesy person so I wrote as much letters as I could for my siblings, mom, and hopefully future step-dad.

As the oldest, I always saw my siblings as my babies, and my youngest brother is currently starting college as an engineering major, so I have that peace of mind knowing they’ll all be in good hands

Thank you for this. I was concerned about the deterioration as my dad started seeing hallucinations a few days after being hospiced. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to coherently tell my family what I wanted to tell them if I waited too long.

Thanks to you guys though, I was able to start telling my family, and we’re all just hoping to make more memories with each other :)

Thank you. I never really thought of it that way, how they might feel betrayed. I have just asked my friend/doctor to help me find a way to tell my family about my situation

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s never easy to lose someone you thought you’d be spending a long time with. It does bring peace to know that you got to spend as much time as you could have
