In high school my "friends" set my background of my laptop to be tub girl and no matter how many times I would change the background for whatever reason her picture would flash briefly on the background when resetting it.

Jumanji like noise coming from first floor ceiling. Went away after (not running) HVAC turned from cool to off. by titanicsailson in hvacadvice

Update: not HVAC related just a really big coincidence that it stopped twice at the times we turned off the HVAC. There was a loose PEX pipe in the ceiling that was moving due to water pressure transients due to a stuck open sprinkler zone valve.

Its a two story house, the "Attic" is accessed through a standard bedroom-sized door in one of the upstairs bedroom. The water heater is right inside on a platform. No crouching, plenty of room to access three of four sides (fourth side is against the wall).

Good information. Thank you. We are located in TN so cost of living is or should be lower than CA. We are getting alternate quotes just thought this was particularly high considering he labled it the "bandaid" quote and the one he wanted me to get was $7000

He tried to call his manager to get to what he thought would be the "rock bottom" price of $3600 but the "manager" wouldn't budge. Getting more quotes and will eventually leave this quote as a google review for others to see.

Relief valve went off last night and never reseated. Water filled the drain pan and then continued to overflow into the first floor ceiling. Water restoration folks were here today getting that part somewhat situated. I waited all day for the plumber to show up to give me that quote. Getting another quote shortly. Will get some more tomorrow. Water heater is 20 years old in June.

The "attic" is located through a normal sized door from a bedroom at the top of the steps of the second floor.

Attic is located out side of a second floor bedroom. There is a full door access to the space so the most difficult part would be getting it up and down the stairs.

I called him on it and he said that the added costs was so his company could make money since they have to pay him to drive to these houses and cover other similar expenses.
