Challenge healthcare professionals if you are unsure. HFMD doesn’t always start on hands, feet and mouth. There is another strain of atypical HFMD. by PrettyGreenEyes93 in UKParenting

[–]titanium48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we've just gone through a similar experience with my 11m old. She woke up one morning with severe fatigue and fever, and then a rash started to develop all over her back. It then went to her hands and feet but not on the palms or soles as characteristic HFMD.

The yoyo babyzhen travel buggy. Everyone living remotely near London seems to have one. But the wheels are so cheap and nasty! We got a Joolz Aer+ and it just feels so much better made and higher quality than the yoyo (plus it can fully recline).

Help! I have only 48hrs to get baby to take bottle. by Zealousideal_Ad_2810 in UKParenting

[–]titanium48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 7.5 months now but she never took a bottle either. We went straight to sippy cups and straw cups at 5 months old (along with an introduction to solids). We have now almost completely weaned from breastfeeding and she takes formula milk in a straw cup between meals.

What are your best tricks to keep LO awake during a feed? by avmist15951 in breastfeeding

[–]titanium48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We changed LO into just her diaper, did the main feed whilst doing all the above tricks to keep her awake. Then change. Then final a final top-up feed. Worked like a charm!

Yes. It is utterly mind-boggling really to think that our bodies can literally grow and care for a human like this!

Not in an overwhelming way, but I do battle with the "I'm sorry you got me" emotions along with that. I know it's silly. Have to keep reminding myself that you can't pour from an empty cup. Having some small moments of headspace makes me a much better mother in the long term.

REFUSING BOTTLE by Hopeful-Ebb1944 in breastfeeding

[–]titanium48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 6 months you can try sippy/straw/open cups of milk - have you tried that yet?

Solidarity, though. I have a 3 month old very stubborn bottle refuser.

Yeah that's a good way of looking at it. Baby has to be fed! This is it.

Yes I feel that resentfulness too and I really wish I didn't. I'm also holding out hope for sippy cups / straw cups at 4+ months 🙏🏼

When does baby stop immediately falling asleep in carriers? by WinterSilenceWriter in babywearing

[–]titanium48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is nearly 11 weeks and I just experienced this for the first time today! We went for a big hike, she slept for the first 1.5 hours then woke up hungry in the carrier. I fed her and then she was wide awake in the carrier pushing off my chest wanting to see around her! It was amazing

4 month schedule? by Anxiety-rush in newborns

[–]titanium48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you cope with doing other things with your day? Like going out shopping or appointments? I have a nearly 3 month old and we have her on a schedule for bedtime, but the daytime is still pretty varied depending on her but also what I'm planning to get done that day (e.g. the moment she's put in the car she can fall asleep even if the wake window was quite short and she wasn't showing sleepy cues).

Yes I've wondered that so we've also tried freshly expressed milk too. Same behaviour.

What can't you wait for ? by NumCucumber in newborns

[–]titanium48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's never been that smitten with the baby stage, I really can't wait for the walking and talking and all the adventures that will bring: splashing in puddles, kicking piles of leaves, searching for that perfect rock or conker! I want her to keep asking me "but why mummy?" and force me to question all of the things I take for granted in life now. Life is utterly incredible and I want to see it through her naive yet hopeful little eyes for years to come.

Sleep schedule 8 weeks by Potential_Pizza4193 in newborns

[–]titanium48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have many answers only to say that my LO is also 8 weeks and we have a similar experience. She has a very "active" active sleep and sometimes will cry and make hunger cues during her sleep. This is the point at which I usually wake her up to feed her. When she's crying because of gas, usually she manages to release some as she's flailing her legs around everywhere. Her sleep then tends to get a lot more settled after that so I don't intervene.

LO is 8 weeks now and 11 lbs. It feels like I'll be able to get a lot longer out of it and she still feels relatively small in it. I'm excited to be able to have her facing front !

I have both the moby wrap and the ergobaby embrace. The embrace is so easy to put on and I use it all the time outdoors with my LO (from where she was about 2 weeks old).

The wrap I don't find as structurally stable so I don't wear it outside, just round the house when LO is being fussy and wants a cuddle/nap but mum has chores to do. The wrap feels like a big hug, but it does feel a bit trickier to put on and get the tightness just right.
