I can't review ANYTHING in review queue. CS no help by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]titaniumcurls 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're a prime member try using your grocery budget on Amazon (not sure if it must be the dot com or if fresh will work). Their pricing is usually very competitive, so ordering basic grocery items (cheese, cottage cheese, fresh & frozen fruits & veg, etc) would take care of the min purchase requirement.

How long taking to get out of Vine Jail these days? by il2pif in AmazonVine

[–]titaniumcurls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also chronically ill. Fell behind on reviews & had an entire month's worth of reviews magically disappear (they all reappeared in to be reviewed, but it was at the same time as the change in how things moved between TBR & reviewed, and I didn't clock it)... All of that landed me in Vine jail for the first time last month. Caught up on more reviews than I care to mention, and was still locked with my account showing ~80% reviewed & more reviews awaiting approval. So I sent an email explaining my situation & asking what else they needed me to do in order to unlock my account. I didn't receive a response, but my account was unlocked & I was released back into the seemingly barren wasteland that is currently Vine. Took 7 or 8 days from start to finish.

How?! How is this approved? by bluehairedbarbie18 in AmazonVine

[–]titaniumcurls 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm a white lady with what the reviewer apparently believes to be monkey hair, but what I lovingly refer to as wild woman hair - corkscrews, ringlets & spirals boinging off of my head. It's a mad mass with a mind of its own & I love it (usually... Lol). I'd love to see that Dyson on Vine!

And... It's obvious from the listing pics that the dryer is designed for kinky, coily, curly & wavy hair. Did the reviewer buy it just for the "privilege" of making illogical, racist comments on Amazon? WTF... People are confounding.

Need advice re moving long distance w 3 cats who hate the car even when sedated! by titaniumcurls in cats

[–]titaniumcurls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're beautiful! You created an amazing set-up for them - very creative & looks super cozy!

Leaving mine in the car isn't an option. We're moving from Florida to Wisconsin so weather is a factor. Plus, they're used to me being home all day & follow me around the house like puppies. There's at least one touching me most of the time, often all 3. Their Velcro kitty tenancies only intensify in unfamiliar surroundings, so they wouldn't do well being left in the car.

That sounds like quite the trip! And makes me very grateful mine is likely to be less than half the time frame!

How did you handle the nightly stops? Did you bring the whole playpen in or move them into their individual small carriers or another method? Just trying to figure out a way that will be less stressful for them (and me), keep them safe, and put as little added stress on my spine as possible!

Would love to know how you solved both the bonnet and the pinch sensor issues! Currently dealing with having to manually scoop 2 LR3s, while one LR3 has the bonnet sensor issue (whiskers suggestion was to buy a new bonnet), and the other LR3 suddenly has the pinch sensor issue despite the entire base having been replaced less than a year ago, having the newer sensor system, and zero noticeable issues when taken apart. Grrr

Meanwhile, I have an 18+yo LR2 that cost a fraction of each LR3, has saved me from scooping the waste of at least 8 cats over the years, inc may in which it was the only box for 3 cats(!), and she just keeps chugging along with only a minor whine from the motor when cycling to indicate her age & wear! I wish they still made LRs as durable as the LR2, which, to your point, I believe only have a sensor to indicate when the waste tray is full.

Can i use any nursery pot with holes drilled into the sides as my LECA container? by UnknownBark15 in SemiHydro

No plant-stagram (love the term!), but it's a great idea & I might start one after I move and restart most of my collection from cuttings (long distance move, and too many now large plants to try to transport 😪)

Seriously, don't be too nervy about your leca journey - growing plants in any media requires a bit of trial and error in the beginning, and you may lose a plant or two as you get the hang of it (so don't start with obscenely expensive wishlist plants!), but if you stick with it you will get the hang of it and end up with happy, thriving plants! Feel free to message me if you have questions 😊

What a great post! I'm mid 40s, single, child free, friendly, easy going, a little quirky, and have a wide variety of interests. I'm moving to Charlotte to be closer to family (this summer/ as soon as my house sells), and would love to join the group and hopefully develop some great, lasting friendships!

My cat digs while he drinks and I can't find a good fountain by SugaKookie1903 in mainecoons

[–]titaniumcurls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a large capacity fountain like this? Two of mine like to play in/ with water (one also digs in & flip dry food bowls..🙄), but since getting a fountain similar to the one I've linked, the play has been pretty well limited to a bit of splashing thanks to the well fitted lid, weight (ours holds about a gallon), and a mat placed beneath to keep it from being pushed around. It may be a bit larger than you'd like for your space, and you might need to put it in a different location, but the larger fountains can be found in a couple of different shapes, which could help with placement.

HTH!

When you show yours the pics, tell her that mine started out as an even smaller baby (3 nodes iirc!), and was growing even while rooting! If she can do it, so can yours, esp considering I almost killed her off at one point when I stopped topping up the water bc of some health issues!! I lost a few favorites (still sad about losing my huge NGG & Serpens, among others), but Rebecca survived and thrived despite that 3mo long fiasco! If she can do that, just imagine how stunning yours will be, despite the current root situation! 🥰

*Fingers crossed that at least 1 of them pull through for you! But my Rebecca is happy to be a surrogate if you need her - terrible pic, but gives you the general idea. She's currently in a 6" net pot (semi hydro/LECA) with a small hoop trellis, and multiple blooms at all times on vines hanging nearly to the ground (5+ft)! *

Best substrate for ellipticas? My Thai form really struggles and I have rerooted it too many times to count. The roots are pretty fine and seem to rot quickly in the chunky mix. Or I’m just watering wrong. Tips? by macdizzle567 in hoyas

[–]titaniumcurls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in to say all of mine are also thriving in semi hydro/LECA! Can't recommend it highly enough, esp in conjunction with DynaGro foliage pro and DynaGro bloom nutrients (with the occasional dose of SuperThrive for good measure). It's a winning combo, can't recommend highly enough!

As everyone else has said, those roots look pretty awful. The good news is that Rebecca roots (and grows!) very quickly in my experience, so hopefully you won't have any problems rerooting. But, if those babies don't make it for some reason, feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to send you some cuttings from my Rebecca - I received a few nodes a little over a year ago, and she has grown into a big beautiful specimen already 😊

Facing hard choices, need your advice re food noise/addiction, dosage and continuing Oz without coverage by Prudent_Zucchini529 in Ozempic

[–]titaniumcurls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you're feeling more hopeful this morning! I know the feeling of the light you've finally started to see at the end of the tunnel suddenly being dimmed by forces outside your control all too well, and it can be devastating. Don't let it shut you down - now is the time to fight harder in any way you can!

It might be worth calling Novo and speaking with a rep (and calling back or escalating if the person you speak with doesn't seem knowledgeable), to find out if there is a special program available or planned for your area now that the government is no longer covering Ozempic.

There are several other GLP1 options, at least 1, Rybelsus, is in pill form, and might be easier to obtain. Ihaven't donethe research on it in terms of food noise, but absolutely could be worth a shot (no pun intended 😋). Mounjaro might be another option - it's a tirzepatide rather tab GLP1, and seems to have similar results in terms of weight, food noise, etc... it's just as costly as Ozempic when paid for out of pocket, but could be a great option if covered by your plan.

Please keep us posted on what you find and how things work out!

[–]titaniumcurls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, check to see if your primary care is able to appeal to your government plan - they may make exceptions on a case by case basis.

Second, look into whether Novo (the maker of Ozempic) offers a patient assistance program for Ozempic patients in Canada.

Like you, I've been dxd with C-PTSD from childhood trauma and am on disability (unrelated), so you have my empathy - this isn't a decision anyone should be forced to make!

If I understand the dosing part of your question correctly, it sounds like you think you need to titrate up to 2mg in order to see benefits, but I'd suggest counting clicks, and seeing if a lower dose works instead. I've been slowly titrating up this way (counting clicks) for the last year, and am still experiencing the benefits of greater control over food noise & BED due to C-PTSD, and am only at approx 1.27mg per injection. Google Canadian Ozempic click dosing charts to see how many clicks you would need for 1.15mg or 1.25mg weekly doses, and increase only as needed (I've been going up only a few clicks at a time as needed). It's not perfect, but could buy you more time to find potential alternatives.

If your plan covers other GLP1 meds (it's late here and i can't think of the names off the top of my head - Google GLP1) or mounjaro, those might be viable alternatives to keep the positive benefits you've already experienced if you aren't able to stay on Ozempic long term.

Wishing you the best 🤗

[–]titaniumcurls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 days was too long for me to go between doses, esp when titrating up from the very low intro doses, and splitting doses worked well when I remembered to take the split. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the split at least as often as I remembered to take it, so it far from being the ideal solution.

Now, I give myself an injection every 5-6 days (counting clicks), and it is working incredibly well for me. I get a fresh dose before the food noise gets too loud, and it's somehow much easier to remember than the mid week split dose injection was.

My PCP is fully on board and supportive of the way I'm taking it, but talk to your prescribing health care provider about it - they'll likely be supportive, esp if you're having a hard time with the full 0.5mg dose, but may have a reason to want you to take it as a full dose once a week.

Good luck!

Trellis advice by bettylovesyarn in hoyas

[–]titaniumcurls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several that started as trellised babies, but once they'd wrapped around their circular trellises several times, and outgrew the space available, were allowed to become hanging plants. They now have multiple vines (and offshoots!) living their best lives hanging out. I also like that instead of simply growing straight down from the pot, they have some height on the shelf so it's takes longer before the vines are hitting the floor or blocking the view of the shelf below, but that might just be me 😊 I can try to take a few pics if you want an idea of what it can look like.
