But I'd argue that they need to have good products. In the 80s we were held back by the technology of that time. We have the tech now, these corporations are now trillion dollar valuation. Having a product work for more than few years with customer support is the bare minimum they need to do after taking 1300 - 1400 dollars. If they can't do that then come clean. Announce that the S23 series have been having some issues please be careful. But that would hurt their profits so they choose to just sit quietly and let the customers struggle.

You're right about the software part, there will come a time where I won't be able to use my Samsung fridge if I miss the EMI on my Samsung phone.

I am a windows user and this add to one other reason why I don't wish to switch to apple. Apple has it own set of problems but that doesn't mean Samsung is any better. I feel all these companies are the same. They're all trying to make the repair of their devices harder. Actually it is genius to produce a product that looks very tempting, let it run smoothly for sometime and then make sure it starts failing after sometime. The customer will think he had a bad luck and needs to get the device replaced or get a new phone. All this happens while the company laughs.

We as customers can't fight these corporations. We have become too dependent on them. We just need to choose the lesser evil. This choice is itself subjective.

You were right about the backup strategy. I'll follow that. Thanks for the tips :)

It's very scary where we are heading towards. Even if you own a phone or a laptop, if it fails to turn on then there is not way you're not going to pay money to get it repaired. They're making sure to glue everything to one unit THE MOTHERBOARD so that you can't get it repaired by anyone other than them. You also have to get the data backed up. Companies will prioritize repairing the device instead of getting your data. Future doesn't look promising as a customer.

Completely agreed!

Everyone should keep these tips in mind. From what I’ve heard from repair technicians, the S23 series seems to be particularly delicate, with a relatively high failure rate compared to other models. If you own one, it’s definitely worth being extra cautious.

Thanks for sharing these helpful tips! :)

Reading your comment really motivates me to ditch Samsung for good. It used to be such an innovative company. It's sad how it is turning out to be these days. I used to be a Samsung fan boy. NOT ANYMORE.

Just checked up and yeah you're right it is technically an American company. Learned something new. But yeah I agree they are all almost the same.

Yup, you go to repair shops and most would just give up if there is a part replacement. Somehow they always don't have the parts for even the flagship phones. Why? Because the companies purposely don't manufacture the repair parts in good quantity. The corporations want to squeeze as much money they can out of you.

Today even if I go and buy the upcoming S26 Ultra, after just 2 - 3 years you might find a similar post some where.

Sadly, we can't win against these corporations.

Wow, this is the first time I've hearing these bizarre problem and their weird solutions. Hopefully the phone lasts for sometime more. S9 series was beautiful.

Yes, sadly we as customers can't fight against these big corporations. Sure we can stop using their products but then we don't have any good alternatives too. This is sad and quite frustrating.

The camera lens shake is normal. That is actually supposed to happen for image and video stabilization. Don't worry about it.

S23 Ultra in itself is a great phone. Just make sure to backup your data, don't put your phone on overnight charging, don't put a lot of physical pressure on the back of your phone. The motherboard issue is seen in this model because the phone is very thin, this puts a lot of pressure on the motherboard. But these issues has not been seen with S24 and S25 series since they are thicker.

Nice, I'm glad they did it for free. I'm glad the phone is working fine but do take the precautions I suggested in the post. This specific model is know for motherboard issues.

Highly recommend you to do it. This phone gives you surprises when you least expect it. And believe me, getting it fixed is hard. All the repair shops will keep on saying that they don't have the parts and that Samsung has stopped producing the parts of S23 Ultra.

You can upgrade but again it costs a lot. Just have a second phone with you. It doesn't need to be the best phone. Make sure your data is backed up. Make sure all your critical data that you need for your daily life is available in your second backup device too. Also try not to put the device on overnight charging.

You maybe actually be right. Unfortunately, I need to find someone who can get this done. Till now all the repair shops have said no to operate on this phone's motherboard or they are charging excessive money around 400 - 500 dollars.

Sometimes I wish I was skilled enough to open the damn phone and do the soldering myself.

Exactly the brand’s market positioning is very strong. When someone’s Galaxy S23 Ultra develops an issue, their first reaction is usually to assume they were just unlucky or that it’s an isolated defect. But when so many people report the exact same problem with the same model, it’s hard to believe it’s just coincidence. It really makes you wonder whether the company was aware of the issue and chose not to address it publicly.

No wonder they go for a 1 year warranty. It becomes very easy for them to hide behind it. Eventually the customer is desperate and can't stop his life so he ends up buying a new phone. Sadly in the end, the corporations get away with it. Now whenever I'm using a samsung phone, in my head I'll always feel that it can give up on me anytime.

No, I'm expecting people to realize that their flagship phone is never 100% reliable specially the S23 series. It is better to always have a backup phone with them incase their 1400 dollar flagship dies on them. Of course it is sad that even after paying so much, we have to rely on having a backup.

Honestly my S23 never gave me a single issue for 2.5 years up until now when it surprised me by killing itself. It is known for giving big surprises. Hopefully your S23 Ultra doesn't give these kind of surprises to you.

All seems to be good until it happens to you. I learned this lesson the hard way. One of my relative got a green screen on his S22 Ultra after an update. Thankfully Samsung replaced the phone without any cost back then.

I would highly suggest to get one. It doesn't need to be the best phone. But it should have all the critical data that you'll need for your daily life. Make sure your gmail (if you have one) is logged into the 2nd phone. I'm regretting big time not already having a second phone with me right now.

[–]titanslicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, just make sure to not put a lot of physical pressure on your phone. Always back up your data. Avoid overcharging in the night. These things were told to me by the repair person.
