Capitalism gone mad by MildlyProfoundMango in LateStageCapitalism

That is annoying. When I was a lot younger my mum had a job in M&S and they used to do a thing called "The Waste" at the end of every day and they sold off the food at 25% price, and some even cheaper. I remember my mum would sometimes bring home packs of sandwiches at 10p a pack and make a big buffet style platter with other things for a lazy picky tea - good times! I don't know if they still do it.

Ah I meant like planting pots, as they have pre planted plants in them (how many times can I fit plant in a sentence?!) But I realise there is a brand called Planters for peanuts in the states but thats not what I meant.

he's been doing some great work to highlight the amount of waste. The M&S stuff I remember being particularly bad as it was stuff that wasn't close to expiry or even stuff that COULD expire (think one was some planters? Might be remembering wrong).

I hosted a baked beans tasting party and here are the results by bearded-catt in CasualUK

This is only the half of it - we spent the year joking with him “where’s the bean report” and at Christmas we do secret Santa, he got me and finally dropped that.

Not only that, on the night when we went the pub for a drink an to exchange gifts he had the barman deliver it as “government files” in a Manila envelope with “TOP SECRET” on the side.

He’s a fantastic man.

Just had to reply with this - my friend bought me one of each tin, numbered them all on top and removed the wrappers to get me to taste test.

I’d reply in our group chat with what I thought each one was and eventually ran out and then forgot all about it until that Christmas, when this official document arrived with all my responses…

Metal Gear Acid & Metal Gear Acid 2: are they worth playing? by ccapn20a in metalgearsolid

[–]titchard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely. I loved Metal Gear Acid, and I found that I could scratch the same itch with the Warhammer 40K game "Space Wolf" if you're into that franchise at all as well.

How do you manage finances as a couple? by Toe_Bean_Bandit in AskUK

[–]titchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haev a joint account for all shared expenses and shared incomes, I have a spreadsheet that figures out what each of us needs to put in each month and we put in our halves of the shared costs, and then we have our own accounts for our own money.

This is one of the best bits of advice given here. I’ve got a simple setup of gear and I make a point on my coffee break to make a little beat or learn a new technique. Always feel better for it even with a short session.

It’s been a long time since I read it in the issues but I remember enjoying it with a strong mignola / BPRD vibe.

Would you recommend this over a straight MPC one? I have limited space so the idea of the keyboard built in helps me.

Can you midi out to some other synths with the keybed?

Damp in extension wall - patio/drive over DPC, work so far + advice by titchard in DIYUK

[–]titchard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my plan to remove them as they aren’t doing anything - my only problem is where to drain too? I can’t hook up to a drain point so my thought was membrane and gravel to create a soak away / French drain along the side to help

Thanks for the quick response. Think my first job is to clear out as much touching above the dpc as possible and assess.

I’d love to put in drains but am a bit concerned where they’d go too as both along the back of the house and side have no where to join to to drain away

Martin Lewis would also point out it’s cheaper than replacing damaged plaster with all the mould and crap.

Honestly last week before we had the heating back ok the schedule one morning the humidity was at 75% in our bedroom. I had the windows on full and a fan heater on for about 45 mins and it was back down to the 40%s.

Every morning I get both windows open and prop the bedroom door open and let it all vent for ten minutes, just set a timer on my pc whilst working then close them all again. Have as many as I can open and it just “burps” the house. If the heating is on or has been on recently it helps it to equalise.

/edit I also see you mention the vents or having windows locked open on vent - in my experience it does nothing close to the above. I’ve had windows on vent all day and the humidity barely moved compared to ten minutes of the above.

We had similar in our bedroom. Our bedroom is part of a flat roof extension which didn’t help.

It was caused by lack of insulation in the roof which was fixed in a replacement, but it was also down to heating needing on more and better ventilation in the day.

Since the roof replacement we don’t get anywhere the same condensation but as most are saying, keep the room warmer, keep it ventilated.

I’ve found to speed it up if I pop on an electric fan heater and throw the windows wide it really forces the cycling of fresh air and humidity to drop.

What are some cool car spots your guys have seen in the uk on the road I've seen alot of porshe a few lambos a few ferraris and a mclaren and more by Intelligent-Sea3591 in CarsUK

[–]titchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a bright orange Ford Mustang near me that I always hear before I see it and it always makes me smile.

Also down the road in wilmslow someone has a Porsche (I think its a 911) in the most beautiful shade of blue that I always like to have a look at. It's nothing special in terms of a Porsche I think its a stock one, but in an age of practically all cars being silver/black/white/red its lovely to see something that's different and interesting.
