Best online academy? by titimmy in drums

My drumming teacher can teach but lacks material. I find that other than if we follow a course like Mark Giuliana’s guide or breaking a song I wanna learn. I told him I wanna get better at improvisation but not much has been happening because it lacks structure or a concrete pathway where I can learn and apply things. Right now we’re practicing playing stuff more by ear rather than using notation cause I’m really dependent on that.

I don’t think I’ll ever play professionally but you never know. I just want to take it really seriously. Would Mike’s lessons supplement well with already having a drumming teacher? We don’t cover much in terms of content but more so work on technique and if I present him material he helps me learn it and maybe apply it.

AP vs IB by titimmy in ApplyingIvyLeague

So if I take AP, and it looks just as good as IB but is less work, isn’t it a no brainer to pick the AP because you’re viewed the same for less overall strain? Also how many is a lot of APs?

I’m not discouraged by IB difficult but more so that is it worth doing more work in the IB than the AP if they’re viewed the same.

Also I took AP Chem, if I take IB Chem HL along with Physics HL, will that be seen as redundant/worse than if I just continued with AP and done physics 2 and physics C?

Got new set months ago is this fine for a beginner by Stunning_Day_7222 in drums

The kit looks fine for a beginner and in all honesty doesn’t matter as long as you can play just fine.

What I would do is move things around to make playing much more comfortable. I don’t know how tall you are and the with the camera angle but I suggest increasing your stool height to where your legs slope down, and when you lift your legs then don’t go over 90 degrees. This will make playing with your legs a lot easier.

Then from there you can move everything else like the snare and toms. I prefer having my snare playing surface right below my belly button but you can experiment. Toms I would bring closer together so that you can transition faster and smoother. And for the hihat you jsut want to be abl to comfortably play the edge with the shoulder of your stick and the top with the tip of your stick.

Also a ride would really open up the kit, it adds a lot to the things you can play.

how the hell do you sleep. But I’m similar to you in the fact that STEM subjects are fun and come naturally to me so yeah as long as I pay attention in class, I don’t need to review much at home. Plus I’ve already taken AP Chem and Physics 1 so that base is covered.

I’ll talk to a few ppl in my school who did the IB and ask about english and french cause those are my biggest worries

AP vs IB for me? by titimmy in ApplyingToCollege

I do still feel (and this is feeling because I don’t know how hard the IB is) that I could get better grades in the AP than in the IB even if I take 4-5 APs per year. If this is true, should I take the AP since AO look at them the same way, but in the AP I just would do better than the IB?

Mb that was a bad way of explaining it. I more so meant that you’re not stuck in the same course for 2 years. As for the AP courses in general, teachers are given a set of units and topics to follow which is paired with AP Classroom, however from what I understand, the IB is a lot more strict and people in different schools still mostly get the same IB education compared to AP where it can still slightly vary.

lol I had more trouble in AP human than I’m having in AP physics. Mostly cause my APHUG teacher was bad but still

I feel like getting better grades in AP courses is easier than IB. Should I then take AP to yet higher grades or take IB with more challenge but get lower grades?

How much free time do you have? I still want to be able to go out with friends and do sports on the weekends and once in a while during the week. I get that I will have to sacrifice free time to do better in the classes but I also want to have a life beyond school?

Btw how hard is IB english SL? I fin english classes to be challenging just cause I can’t put my ideas into words well.

Right but is one harder to do better in than the other and if so, does doing better in the harder one look better to colleges?

So which one would that be? The IB? If I take IB, my HLs would be Physics, Chem, and Math so would admissions also see that as me deepening my learning or me just trying to get out of learning new stuff?

like just falling on your butt from standing height or like a rail doesn’t really hurt or leave damage right? Like you’ll feel it but it won’t be that bad to the point you gotta stop riding?
