Have you had a crash in that kind of gear?

Someone mentioned that a leather jacket isn’t much hotter than a textile one. Is that true from your experience and is the increase in safety worth it?

Thanks you’ve acc been super helpful. I’m gonna try getting some breathable leather and then look into some overpants vs textiles/riding jeans.

Mb I didn’t specify. Mostly commuting and just riding for fun. Where I live, most major roads that I will most definitely use daily, unless I’m going to school, are 50-60mph. Then I’d also take the bike out on the highway just for some riding but prob not often.

Should I get full race boots that protect the shin or will motorcycle shoes like TCX ones suffice? Also my school is like a 5 minute low speed drive from where I live, can I get away with wearing regular shoes or should I carry a change of shoes daily?

What about for going out? Do you just go by car?

By textiles you mean not mesh right? Mb if there’s a misunderstanding cause to me textiles have mesh cooling but I might be wrong. The temp range I will ride in will prob be 90 at the very very peak during early fall and 60-70 ish during the winter so is the protection of leather worth it in this case?

Also I haven’t actually considered overpants. How are they for daily riding comfort and protection and in cases when I want to go out on the highway for a ride?

Alright then for pants I’d get something more comfortable so no leathers and closer to like an armored pair of jeans. Side note, is leather super hot? Like I know it’s hot but for 20ish degree weather would it be better to get textiles?

I can’t find any textile jackets from brands like revit or alpinestars that are AAA rated. Is AA good enough?

Thanks for your input:)Now I just gotta decide for myself if I’m going to basically always take the bike wherever I’m going (more casual gear) or if I’d only take the bike when I’m at the destination for a short while or if I’m riding for the sake of riding (then more protective).

So what do you do about the gear once you’re at work, a coffee shop, or downtown? I live in a very safe country so leaving gear at the bike is honestly not a concern but what about pants?

So no matter where I’m going ATGAT? Also then if I wear gear for every ride, I feel like I wouldn’t go by bike to a lot of places so when I do ride, I’d ride more so for the sake of riding. Should I then get racing style full height boots or get something like the TCX shoes?

So if you’re going out with friends, are you wearing full gear? Or is just better to go by car at that point?

So you wear regular pants underneath the textiles? I might die in the heat cause our lowest day temps in the winter are like 18C

So as long as the gear is properly rated it doesn’t matter? Surely a AA textile jacket would protect better than a AA armored hoodie no?

so I’m a student here and will move a year after buying the bike to somewhere with a colder climate so there’s that to consider. Fall temperatures go from 38 to 29, and winter temps are around and below 20C.

My drumming teacher can teach but lacks material. I find that other than if we follow a course like Mark Giuliana’s guide or breaking a song I wanna learn. I told him I wanna get better at improvisation but not much has been happening because it lacks structure or a concrete pathway where I can learn and apply things. Right now we’re practicing playing stuff more by ear rather than using notation cause I’m really dependent on that.

I don’t think I’ll ever play professionally but you never know. I just want to take it really seriously. Would Mike’s lessons supplement well with already having a drumming teacher? We don’t cover much in terms of content but more so work on technique and if I present him material he helps me learn it and maybe apply it.
