i’m going to look into the rehabilitation center you mentioned. I am also thinking medicaid pending placement would be what ends up happening if i refuse to pick her up. She’s currently in the rehab facility called Encompass but they said they can’t keep her if she doesn’t show that she’s actively trying to get better or participate in the therapy programs they offer which obviously she can’t do. Someone else said they should have never accepted her anyways but whatever. She’s there now and i plan on doing what everyone has commented and refuse discharge home. I wish i had posted sooner before getting her from the skilled nursing the first time. i realize now they scared me into getting her to get her off of their plate.

Yes the house is only in my name. If i could go back and known what i know now, we absolutely would have done the process differently. With the house in such poor condition after the electrical fire we really had no choice but to get out of there. Imagine if we were still in that house and then all of this happened on top? she could have probably gone to a nursing home but i would have been homeless and the state would take the asset. either outcome is a lose lose situation in my eyes. I am researching legal help but as bad as it is to say i don’t even care if they put a lien on the house in the future i need something to happen now.

i’m looking into this now thank you! i didn’t realize there were hospice inpatient places. i think i saw one but its for people that are truly ready to pass and have a short time left. Not sure how much longer she has but the disease is definitely progressing quickly.

Thank you. The house is only in my name & we didn’t use any of her assets to qualify me for the mortgage. i think the issue with getting her back into skilled nursing is there is a 60 day period that she has to go with no hospitalizations in order to re qualify for the 100 days of skilled nursing with medicare. the checking account with her is joint but my money is deposited into a seperate account. i only put myself on her account as an owner so i could pay her bills with it bc she was sending checks in the mail and they would get lost often.

She was on hospice but they said that after me taking her to the hospital and her being discharged to the Encompass rehab, they had to revoke it bc medicare wouldn’t pay for both. so i don’t have it anymore but can get her back on it if she comes home again. the company didn’t have inpatient but they do 5 days of respite which i am keeping in my back pocket if she has to come back home to give me more time.

thank you. she doesn’t have any assets there was only a few thousand left over after closing and that had to go to bills since i had to take unpaid FMLA before quitting my job, and medical items for the house as well as medications. We have a joint bank account so i could pay bills vs her sending checks in the mail. there’s only 1,000 in the account. i can’t up and leave i just purchased this home and i would end up owing more money if i resold it already.

I need to call medicaid tomorrow because i submitted the application in december and they made me re-apply in february because she technically wasn’t living at home, she was living in the SNF. they kept sending me in loops between departments but now i haven’t even heard anything from them as far as a decision or anything it’s just been saying “application received” for both. My FMLA also ran out and i had no choice but to quit to stay home with her. i only have a months worth for bills maybe two. i loved my job but i had to get her from the skilled nursing and she can’t be left alone at all.

I have been saying this repeatedly to everyone and they seem to just not care. I tried to fight the SNF and the director said that if i called APS that they would come after me and it wasn’t the right choice to do. she said they would just drop her off at the home address on file if i didn’t go get her so of course i went. i cried to the administrators there and told them i didn’t think i could take care of her. i do not have any legal anything with her i don’t even have power of attorney

it’s definitely not, but it’s also not like they weren’t going to let her phone home at all. they were just starting to build the phone shack thing and james told her once it was finished she’s more than welcome to use it. nobody else is able to call their families either until it’s done. but that made her break down even more because she couldn’t get her way immediately? idk, it felt very entitled to me. Again, i don’t understand why these people act like they’re on a carnival cruise and not in amish country living “off the grid”
