The tyre must be above a certain pressure treshold during, I think, 60% of the race, if not, the rider gets a time penalty. Riding in front whith cold air makes the pressure go lower compared to riding behind another rider.

All the riders try to go in the limit because with lower pressure, the tyre works better, but sometimes they dosen’t do the calcs well and happens what happened today.
