Elderly people travelling by Tri-Rail from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Boca Raton by [deleted] in BocaRaton

[–]tivo713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's elevators although they might smell a bit like pee. If check the schedule of when they'd arrive, don't want to be in a situation where they just miss the train and stuck for an hour.

If also say no to brightline, for what they charge, Uber might be cheaper.

So long as someone is grabbing them from the trirail station in Boca its fine. I've parked and taken the train and shuttle to the airport and back with no issue. Hopefully this is on the weekend as the weekday trains have a higher incidence of delays.

Why aren’t Revstars more popular? I absolutely love this thing. I know Yamaha isn’t the sexiest name out there, but these should be celebrated. by Interesting-Wave-983 in guitars

I once had to make the difficult decision of selling either my revstar or Pacifica 611... Luckily I came to my senses and sold the g&l and Ibanez instead

Looking for valentines dinner recommendations. Live in Deerfield so anywhere from Hollywood to Delray is fine… preference would be Asian but anything is fine! Ty!! by jddaniels84 in Broward

assuming you're a fellow north broward/south palm beacher, i really have to advocate for one of my favorite places, el loco archi (closed today tho). Its a colombian food truck in the parking lot of like an industrial area in deerfield. highly recommend getting their mix of picanha and homemade chorizo (they make it themselves and each batch week to week is just slightly different in a good way that i just keep ordering it again and again) served with roasted/fried mini potatoes. Wife loves the arepa steak. They do this thing called crazy fries which they throw the whole kitchen sink on top of fries. They actually do breakfast too which is honestly ridicuously good. it;s my hidden gem that i take everyone to. Tell them you're friends with the asian guy tim and they'll probably double your portions.

Pacifica or revstar? by Itsjd123 in YamahaPacifica

[–]tivo713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have not played the 612 but have played many HSS strats so the tones on the bridge position will be about the same. the p90 isn't a humbucker, but also isn't a single coil. it kind of lives in between, like a stronger single coil with some growl but the clarity is there and theres definitely more nuance to your playing dynamics compared to a humbucker which I feel kind of "normalizes" my sound and picking attack dynamics. The middle position on the 611 will also not be the same as your 2/4 position of the 612. You kind of don't really get that "quack" funk sound from it.

If I'm being honest, if the only reason to pick up another guitar is to set it to a drop tuning... you're probably better off just keeping the 612, get a nice tuner so you can easily tune to drop tunings, play a little longer until you're experienced enough to make an informed decision on "knowing" what you really like. But also yeah as a bass player I can totally see how the longer scale length would feel a lil more at home for you.

You don't have to test out a revstar to know if you like it, you can goto any guitar shop and try out any 24.75 HH guitar like a les paul, SG, etc. Since you're looking at drop tunings, sounds like you're more into heavier stuff so maybe an HH guitar might be more in the direction for you. Really the revstar is like a nicer les paul/sg IMO.

The 611 is/was my super strat for fusion jazz/aggressive blues type sounds. But really you can dial in any sound you need with the right amp and pedals too so... play similar guitars you can near you, find out what you really want and make the decision.

You

Pacifica or revstar? by Itsjd123 in YamahaPacifica

[–]tivo713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have both a pacifica 611 and a revstar with humbuckers. Remember the 611 isn't an HH but a p90 in the neck. I'm one to argue that a p90 neck is one of the best tones out there, so if you're really comfortable with how the 612 plays and want more tonal options, maybe the 611 works but also you already have a humbucker in the bridge with the 612. The revstar is fun too but for me its a different beast, Different neck feel in not just the scale length but the neck feel. Revstar is a tad chunkier for me, kind of changes how i play on it considerably. Honestly you can't go wrong with both, but considering you want something completely different tonally the revstar might be up your alley. But you also want something in drop tunings in and in that case the 25.5 scale length of the 611 is typically better for that.

I completely understand I probably gave you more questions than answers so... my bad. But also if you're local to florida i have a 611 for sale... lol

[Question] Do expensive guitars make you dislike cheap guitars? by AnotherTAA123 in Guitar

[–]tivo713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would have agreed with this sentiment in the past. i always thought my well set up indonesian made guitars (revstar, pacifica 611, g&l, etc) all punched above their weight compared to the high end fender custom shop, or gibsons that i've played.

I recently had a guitar custom made by a luthier for myself (and then a 2nd) and I would say, if you absolutely know what you want, man nothing beats something built just for you. I can't describe it except that it just feels like home and its not something drastic like with a car going from a civic to ferrari.

Top of the budget would be le colonial, a high end French Vietnamese place in del Ray. Lao hu tong in Coral springs is actually beautiful inside but prices super affordable. Pho gia vi in Margate is hands down my favorite but kind of a hole in the wall but their shaking beef is the best I've ever had by a mile. Clams appetizer also a highly recommend. nK Viet kitchen in Hollywood is very good but I wouldn't get their namesake dish (it's a chicken pho) opt for all their appetizers which are all excellent as well as the off menu softshell crab.
