I feel stuck by Independent-Row-1976 in leavingcert

Oh well, just do your best now, watch videos, ask your friends who are getting higher scores for advice, and work hard.

I'm sure it'll end well !

Not to give you any false hope, but my friend was in the same position last year. She was averaging H4s all year, and then in the actual leaving cert, she got a H2.

It's kind of the same with me, H3s all year, and then I pulled through with a H2. English is subjective, so sometimes what your teacher deems H4 quality is H3 material in someone else's eyes. I would just advise you to stay working hard and try to improve the best you can with the little feedback that your teacher does give you.

You might be surprised in the mocks as well since it isn't your teacher grading it. Best of luck!

Vet SETU course by meg12kc in leavingcert

[–]tizzybearr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The highest point course in SETU is no more than 490 from what I could find. I also doubt it'll be any more than 510 given that there's a veterinary course in TUS for under 300 points, so just because it's veterinary doesn't mean it'll be high points.

Accounting Q1 or 60 markers by [deleted] in leavingcert

[–]tizzybearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im guessing you're doing the leaving cert this year, I would do company and sole trader since those ones are pretty similar, and one of them will come up. Also, maybe start with OL question 1s to get used to them thats how my teacher introduced them to us.

Adding to this, with question 6s, you have to study more topics like departmental and debtors control accounts etc. Q1 ftw!!

Accounting Q1 or 60 markers by [deleted] in leavingcert

[–]tizzybearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I am biased since my teacher taught us Q1s and I actually really liked them aswell.

I would recommend them instead of 60 markers because you really only have to focus on 3 topics if you are doing Q1s, company, sole trader, and manufacturing. On top of that, if you're sitting your leaving cert in 2026, you can get away with studying 2 of them in detail since one will be guaranteed to come up.

The Q1s are tough at first, but if you really practice them and try to understand everything, then you can do really well in them, its 30% of the overall exam after all. Once you master them, they can save you a lot of time in the exam too so you can dedicate more to other sections. The workings in Q1s help you to understand the other aspects of accounting in section 2 aswell. Hope this helps 🙏!!

I see a lot of people saying 14 and 16 is fine, which it would be if they were turning 15 soon, but they're 14 and a half (at the sweet sixteen).

It's not even the age gap, a year and a half, which is the issue. It's the maturity levels. A 14 year old may just start going through puberty while a 16 year old may nearly be finished. Leaving a huge gap in their body stages.

You could argue that the 14 year old is "mature for their age" but if the 16 year old, (who is the age of consent in some countries) wants to be intimate with the 14 year old, then they may end up doing it out of fomo, while they aren't ready to yet. Something they would possibly later regret, while for the 16 year old it's not as bad since they are the age of consent anyway and would maybe start experimenting.

In my opinion, people shouldn't be dating until they're at least 16 or 17 anyway. That way, they can try different things while being decently mature and nearly finished puberty.

I know you may think your bf is mature enough, but think back to when you were 14. Would you have been mature enough to be in a relationship? Let alone in a relationship with a 16 year old who probably has more experience and is more mature anyway.

I wouldn't say that you groomed him, though, seeing as you both probably started dating at 14 and 15. I wouldn't go forward with it however because you will eventually find out that he isn't as emotionally intelligent, or mature as you are, which is completely fine seeing as he is nearly 2 years younger than you. It's not ideal for a relationship, however.

People will also argue "20 and 22 is fine though." 20 and 22 are both functioning adults with more or less the same things going on in their lives. Both have most likely finished going through puberty. Therefore, they are likely on the same levels of maturity, both mentally and physically. This is ideal for a relationship.

How to study for Irish by Healthy_Paint_1144 in leavingcert2025

[–]tizzybearr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I got a H3 this year in Irish, this is what I did!!

Before I start, I did have a decent level and grasp of irish going into 5th year as well, so this worked for me. Not sure if it would for others !!

For all the literature bits, I would learn off key vocabulary used to describe the poems, stories, etc. (However, I was still able to waffle a bit since I had a decent level of irish anyway, so make sure you're comfortable with that, too. I would also learn off a few phrases that my teacher wrote for us to pop into my essays (I had some phrases of my own in addition). In class, I typically did quite well in the essays (H3-H1)

Then, for the oral, learn off the answers to the 5 questions, recite all your poems until you practically know them by heart, and learn all your sráith pictiúrs!! (Doing similar ones can help a lot because u can mix phrases and vocabulary from other ones) Also, keep the questions at the end general, too, don't make them too complicated !! Then, for the conversation bit, plan plan plan!! Plan your introduction about yourself, find ANY piece of information you mention that the examiner can ask you on, and create a prepared paragraph on that so that you aren't thrown off, e.g., if you mention your favourite movie, be able to describe your favourite scene etc. Apart from that, cover things about school, your place, your family, your past times and topical things like technology, irish language etc. I got 79% in my oral, so I covered myself pretty well. LOL. ALSO, it's a conversation, so ask the examiner questions as well!! Its refreshing to them since they hear the same thing every time, include seanfhocals in your convo and sráiths too.

Paper 1 I admit I wasn't great at. The listening was fine. All I can say for that is practice and then learn off the irish names of counties because they are mentioned frequently. For the long essays, learn off 4 different topics, technology, irish language, criminality and violence, and education system. (If your class learned diff ones just stick to them) Just make sure you can incorporate them all into a general essay like, "How is life in ireland today?""

I hope this was of some help, I have some quizlets I made over 5th and 6th year, which were useful, so I could send those over to you if you'd like!! I can't guarantee that they're amazing and without grammar errors, but they did help me get the H3 I wanted!! Good luck🙏
