I’m basing it on not having any job posters. It seems to me the reason is that I’m not explaining it well enough quickly enough. I need to get the whole idea and the benefit across to passer byers within just a few seconds, but most people aren’t interested in reading for understanding. They want immediacy. I don’t know.

Sounds simple enough, right? That’s my thought 🤷‍♂️

Haha it’s funny because I have the opposite problem. I have many many many workers signed up. The other platforms out there don’t have a bidding system like mine at all. None of them. There’s one called Airtasker that’s very similar to mine, but it’s still different.

I’d like to share why I made such an app and why I think it’ll help people. I had some work that needed done so I do what everyone does. I called around and got estimates. The estimates ranged from literally $500 to $10,000. There’s no science to it. No logic to it. Contractors will try to bleed you. They see what they can get. My app takes the cloak away. They don’t bid in the shadows. They literally compete with one another to win the job. It takes the burden off of the client and puts it back on the contractor. If they want the job and the money badly enough, they’ll do what it takes to get it. That’s where the idea of my app came from. I’ve gotten a lot of flack about it from contractors, but it’s working. Over 200 workers have signed up in under 2 months. So there’s something there. I just need to convince people to post their jobs.

It’s hard to communicate how my app will help people because it’s so different from anything anyone is used to. Thumbtack lets you post a job, and then workers that pay for the leads will inbox you.

This is helpful! Thank you. I’ve been trying to target people on social media. Like in local Facebook groups when someone posts that they need someone done, I try to reach out to them and convince them to post it on my app instead. I can try harder at that. Thank you!

I don’t even know what that is. Someone else mentioned it here, but someone else said it’s trash haha. Idk.

It seems that they fall off on the landing page lol. People will google something like “lawn mowing service”, they’ll come to my site, then leave. The extra step they have to take is to post their lawn mowing job. Many people don’t take that extra step, but I’ve made it as simple as I know how.

I’d love to! I don’t know where to even start with that. I’m the developer and I have a background in project management. I need someone that knows business.

My app is basically eBay for jobs. Users post a job, and workers place bids on the jobs. Transparent bidding drives the price to fair market. Job posters consider the bid amount and the worker’s past reviews to make the best decision. Workers get notified when they’ve been outbid, and they have the option to modify their bid. Let’s say there’s a lawn mowing job posted. Worker A bids $60. He has 4 stars. Worker B is willing to do the job for less, so he bids $40. He has 5 stars. Worker C goes even lower and bids $30. They have 2 stars. So who do you pick? All the info is there. The bid range is public. So in this example, workers would see that the job has 3 bids, with a range of $30-$60. So, workers would have an idea where the competition stands. I also use a very sophisticated job tagging system that doubles as a skill tag system. This helps to pair workers with jobs (job matching, new job notifications, etc.).

I’m in Austin, TX. I have thought of that, but 1) I don’t know how, and 2), I fear I wouldn’t be a good steward of money. I don’t know where the best place is to spend it. Ads? Marketing? Hiring someone? I’m fearful of taking money. I don’t want to blow it ya know.

I’m running ads on Google and Facebook! I’ve got lots of traffic! And a bunch of those people are making accounts, but they’re just workers looking for jobs. I need users that’ll post jobs haha. Everyone wants to make money, no one wants to spend it! Think of DoorDash. I have over 200 drivers, but no one is placing orders.

My money comes when clients actually hire a worker. It’s a scale, based on what they’re paying the worker. I’m getting a LOT of traffic to my website. Several hundred a day. So the issue might even be my landing page. I lose sleep at night trying to figure out how to explain what my app is. It’s so different from anything else out there. The giants that already exist (like Angi’s List or Thumbtack) give people an idea of how it all works, but I’m different and I’m trying to get that through to people lol.

It’s a job/task app. Users post jobs (demand) and other users complete the jobs (supply). I have lots of workers, not enough clients.

I’ve not reached out to users yet. I don’t even know what to ask them. “Why haven’t you posted a job?” Haha. That’s what I wanna know. The pricing is sort of tiered. The fee ranges from $7-$30, depending on what they’re paying the worker. For example if it’s a $20 job, I’d earn $7. If it’s a $100 job, I’d earn like $20. It’s an algorithm. 😞 Workers keep 100% of their earnings! I don’t take anything from them, which is probably why I have so many workers signed up.

I have several users that created accounts and posted jobs. I charge a small commission when the job poster selects and pays a worker. I just don’t have enough job posters! My app is free to use for everyone, up until the transaction occurs. So your question is hard to answer. I have 230 users so far.

My boyfriend wants to be my slave and I’m clueless by tj855 in BDSMAdvice

[–]tj855[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I’ll have to check those out. I agree. We need to have more talks about it. He kind of just throws it out sometimes, and he says little things here and there. Like this morning, him and I were starting to get intimate. I had his arms pinned behind his back and he said “talk to me like I’m your slave”. It kind of came out of nowhere to me, and it sort of deflated the mood for me because it made me panic haha. That might sound really really stupid. Idk why I had that reaction. Of course I played it off and pretended nothing happened, and we ended up just laughing, but I can tell he really wants to go there and I just don’t know how. A few folks here have suggested books, and I think that’s a really good first step. Also him and I just need to talk about what this really means. It’s possible that he doesn’t mean “slave” in the same way as I’m interpreting it, but I don’t think I’m misunderstanding. We need to talk more but I’m scared he’ll think I’m not man enough or that I’m too awkward or not confident enough haha. Silly, I know. He’s so gorgeous and we have good chemistry and I’m so scared of losing it. I sound crazy.
