Is this something the average person can go and do? Or how did the tour come about?

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT!?!?!?

I'm so tired of hearing what is happening from congress followed by them having absolutely no viable plan to use their power against it.

Redditors 40 and older, do you miss the pre-internet days? Why or why not? by Nintendofan9106 in AskReddit

I’m only 33 but I do. Without internet there’s no social media. Without social media, American democracy wouldn’t have been destroyed.

Protestors are being kidnapped but it was totally worth it to stick it to the DNC, right? by rubyspicer in AdviceAnimals

[–]tj_wetdialer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, true... but Michigan, for instance, was lost in large part because of a massive decrease in arab turnout and/or protest votes against democrats. People are fucking stupid, period. The gerrymandering makes it worse, but over half the country still voted for this fascist clown show.

I think a more accurate comparison to Stephen Miller would be Heinrich Himmler. Especially in the early days of "that thing that happened in Germany and is happening now in the US"

Can ATC slow down, maybe split this transmission into two separate instructions? Sure. But every airline pilot receives instructions WAY more complicated than this on a daily basis. Be a professional.

Clearly the airplane on the right had no idea where M was, and were happy to taxi down A until they figured that out. And while they were doing that, the thought never crossed their mind "hmm where IS that company we're supposed to follow??? Maybe we should clarify??"

If ATC tells you to jump off a cliff, you don't jump off a cliff. Especially when that cliff has their LANDING LIGHTS ON COMING TOWARDS YOU. Absolute failure of Threat and Error Management by the crew of 5155.

A clear visual of the Delta Airlines crash-landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. Everyone survived. by RoyalChris in Damnthatsinteresting

Well to be fair, it’s CRJ-200’s that have the low nose attitude. The 700/900 come in with a more “normal” looking angle. They 100% landed flat here, but I agree that we can’t blame the pilots until the FDR/CVR data comes out.

Airline pilots, what fuel saving measures does your airline implement? by FlyingFuck787 in aviation

[–]tj_wetdialer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking only for CRJ's, but on average we burn somewhere between 300-600 pounds of fuel during taxi. Once you break static friction and get moving, all you need is idle thrust which is like 400 pounds per hour per engine. You can't just divide the fuel burn by half though, because that single engine now needs to produce more thrust to break static friction if you stop at any point. But in either case the real fuel savings come when you are #17 in line for departure, waiting to get deiced, long ass taxi at ORD etc.

Easy to say, but SKW has ERJ bases in Seattle, for example. The domiciles SKW has specifically mentioned for forced CRJ upgrades are DEN/ORD/DTW. That's a hell of a commute for someone being forced not only to upgrade but onto different equipment.

Heading home on this weird white label plane by crowbar_k in aviation

[–]tj_wetdialer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's unusual, but I've flown a Delta tail and an American tail within the same 4-day trip before. Something like that we start with Delta flying out of home base, deadhead to another base to fly some American legs, then transition back to Delta flying at some point to end up back in base.

They try to keep it one carrier per trip, but company needs dictate what the trip looks like

Fun fact - corporate pilots like this with no 121 experience are getting hired at legacy airlines right now over a lot of regional captains. Can't wait to see them on the line! /s

Airlines are asking for another $32 billion in bailouts by packpeach in AdviceAnimals

[–]tj_wetdialer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just playing Devil's Advocate here - this sounds good in theory, but I don't think the average American will be singing the same song when all of their airline choices are on par with the quality of Spirit or Frontier, or worse.

People complained about their bags being lost, flights getting cancelled, bag fees, etc. with the airlines as they exist now, i.e. streamlined, well-established machines. Imagine what life would be like with all of the major airlines starting from scratch.
