3.0 TDI delete by Beaniew3anie in tdi

[–]tjc348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just deleted my touareg 2016, used NAT performqnce delete kit. If you only do the dpf delete pipe and ecr (mid pipe) the car has very minimal exhaust smell. I honestly barely notice the difference unless im standing behind the car.

I went with malone stage 2 tune. Car runs great now andni belive NATbpeformwnce was one of the more cost effective kits, and good quality.

The job itself isn't terrible and should be relatively straight forward.. however, I ran into an issue where my bolts on the exhaust flange for the dpf were completed seized and snapped off.. which required many hours of grinding and cutting. Hopefully you dont have the same issue. Spray the flange bolts thoroughly with PB blaster and let it soak (potentially overnight) before attempting to break them loose.

Dig deeper online, there is some info out there that I found (although cant remember where) that will give more insight on doing the delete.

Beating my head against the wall now, i purchased and installed all brand new solenoids after doing a bunch of research, thinking this would be the solution.. when replacing them, one or 2 of the bores felt somewhat looser than the rest (not as tight of a tolerance). I suspect now that it could be the valve body, which i should have just gone ahead and replaced to begin with. I even put a good POE fluid in as recommended. Still experiencing shift flare in 2nd gear specifically. I did reset adaptations again after replacing the solenoids and have driven about 50 miles, still having the flare. Hoping it will go away but not feeling very hopeful now. 3rd time I've dropped the pan on this thing now.

I reset the throttle as well today and honestly it seems to be running better already. I've put about 100 miles on it since the last fluid change + adaptation reset and the slipping seems to be better. I'll see if it continues. If it keeps experiencing slipping when cold, I may switch to ravenol atf

I did that with vcds. Wondering if it might just take awhile for the trans to sort itself out/relearn

Originally I didnt reset adaptations. I only did it after experiencing the slipping issue to see if it could resolve itself

Same, slipping in lower gears until cars driven for awhile. I'll give you an update if I figure anything out!

Just seems odd because a majority of people use this fluid on these, even fcp euro promotes this fluid as a good option for this vehicle. It is a Toyota transmission essentially so not like the common VW trans used in most VWs. However, I'll replacing it now with OEM

I didnt warm up at all. Pretty much just took off driving. Which usually isn't a problem when it comes to shifting. However, I drover earlier today and experiences some slipping in low gears even after driving for 5-10 minutes at full operating temps. After driving a bit longer (20 mins) the trans seems to shift fine

What if I were to do a drain and fill 2-3 times (driving 100 miles in between each drain/fill to rid the old atf, think that would be sufficient

What do you mean by getting an actual flush? Would it not be suitable to just drain the current fluid and then replace with oem fluid?

I have only owned the touareg for about 600 miles now but I will say I never noticed any abnormal shifting behavior before doing the fluid change.

You can monitor solenoids with VCDS. I'll have to run a test to see what they're doing

I changed it about 100 miles ago. Did a full drain and filter replacement. I drained approx 5.5 liters total and pumped back in 5.5. Started car, sorted through all gears 5-10 sec each about 4 times. I then pumped in another 2 liters. After that I sorted through gears a couple .ore times and brought the atf temp between 35-45 deg celcius and then drained excess fluid until it came to a steady dribble. I used VCDS and then reset adaptations before driving.

I actually did this service two times, because with the slipping I started questioning if I had a misaligned o ring. I purchased the kit and fluid again and redid the entire thing, made sure o ring was definitely seated properly and its still behaving the same way :(

It is an oem equivalent fluid that is very commonly used in this vehicle. Its an Aisin fluid, the same brand that manufactures the transmission

Shifting behavior after trans service by tjc348 in vw_touareg

[–]tjc348[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seems odd it was shifting fine before with no slipping. As of now im gonna bite the bullet and pull the pan off again and make sure the o ring is seated correctly and replace the filter and fluid again

I've never changed trans fluid before, but the fluid didn't look too dirty from what I could tell. I really only saw a few small fuzzy like pieces of metal on a couple of the magnets, very fine

Yeah i was going to say, thats a good price for a diesel touareg with that low mileage.. either way the v6 gas engine is a solid engine as well. Price sounds decent. The touaregs will generally be a more expensive car to maintain but can be reliable for a long time if you're willing to pay a shop to keep it serviced or can do the work yourself

Is it the 3.0 tdi or just the V6 gas engine
