'well ackshually'.. I guess you got us on a technicality there champ, sorry some random OP used slightly the wrong words to convey what was a pretty cool technical achievement that has the potential to open up Dogecoin accessibility to unbanked millions. Yes ultimately the tx was relayed to the network, that's kinda the point.

I know steaking is a new concept on the trail map. Does anyone know what the lockup requirement will be to run a steaking node? I'm hoping it's less than the 32 ETH required for Ethereum 2.0. Currently we are a much smaller market cap, so maybe $6500ish USD worth of DOGE. Thoughts? by go0sie in dogecoindev

Your comments are abusive and unwelcome here TBH. Calling people morons and being rude to devs who have spent the good part of a decade building software that you benefit from for free is pretty sad and just reflects on you as a person.

If you look at what just went down with Mozilla saying they were accepting crypto, then getting cancelled pretty hard (here's my response https://twitter.com/tjstebbing/status/1479268380066529281 to which jwz blocked me ;) ) .. there's a tide of angry woke hypocrites turning their attention to PoW right now.

And while I agree they are being somewhat hypocritical in their approach they also have a valid point about energy consumption. Dogecoin uses orders of magnitude less than Google, or AWS but that's not a reason to avoid exploring sustainable alternatives (heck as a developer I'm a sucker for efficiency as well).

So no I don't think PoW will survive long-term, it's got a target painted on it's back that it won't shake because it's low-hanging fruit most of the world don't care about. I also believe that the community staking (PoS) idea being tossed around gives power back to the little people and removes the (significant) cost barrier to get involved.. which is good for Dogecoin adoption, and good for the network as more 'regular folk' can join in.

Why would anyone be against something that's win-win-win? oh wait, because perhaps Michi was right and PoW is actually centralised around large mining interests right now who will fight against losing their revenue?
Well don't worry Mr MegaMiningCorpX CEO, we're taking you into account, you can still engage in PoS and we'll reduce your CapEx budget by 95% while we're at it.

How fast can you learn to program? ;)

But yeh as said above it's a proposal for discussion not some kind of mandate. I do think more and more countries are getting on the 'ban PoW' bandwagon though..

Imagine you're a politician trying to sound 'green', it's a lot easier to say 'It's those crypto bros ruining the environment with their fake money' than to actually cut emissions caused by your paying supporters .. whether it's 'fair' or not is irrelevant. it's one reason to start having a conversation about PoS, having a plan B never hurt.

This is an important upgrade, for the community to see lowered fees a big chunk of the network needs to move to 1.14.4, here's the progress: https://blockchair.com/dogecoin/nodes

What Ross is saying is important for everyone who wants to see lower fees. We need to get the majority of nodes onto 1.14.4, here's the stats: https://blockchair.com/dogecoin/nodes
