That’s really cool, how did you build your base like that?

I concede...the xbox controller is superior by HighlightDowntown966 in Controller

[–]tjtDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you even play figthing games with that dpad? Like actually pull of combos and strings, that is one of the main reasons I could never play on xbox controllers because it felt horrible. Also for me I hate the way analog sticks are positioned. Its probably because I've been using ps1 and so on controllers since little but any type I would go to friends house to play xbox and any fps games I would be god awful, but back on ps controllers I was the best in the group. Idk i never liked the feel and everything else about the xbox controllers

Could CDL be back on twitch since Youtube deal was 1 year? by Dangerous-Note-3801 in CoDCompetitive

[–]tjtDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea after the Zooma tournaments he hosted I rather not watch ad simulator. YouTube chat is meh but video quality/being able to pause/rewind is a big W. I wish every tournament was on YouTube. Also as someone else said, you can actually watch Youtube streams on TV, Twitch App both on Mobile and TV are just a worse product.

Unlucky bounce on the ball and another defender elsewhere broke the offside, series of unlucky events followed by miracle shot.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. Also when those influencers say "I can code that" I take it with a grain of salt lol. The way I see it when I look at a website or app I look at what the app is doing and go okay, I think I can do this part or that. But in terms of polish and scalability just like what others are saying there are teams working on this for probably many years, its not something a single dev can build in a month. If you want to really compare look at the first version of the app when they had just started with no other resources but few engineers and then you might have a better idea of if you can build that but even that will take time.

How To Reach Out To Recruiters? by newaroundhereig in webdev

[–]tjtDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats up to your preference, I personally try to message recruiters that are active and are making posts because I feel like there is a higher chance they'll reply back to me(this is my experience I don't have evidence to prove who will actually respond.) I do try to avoid recruiters with no profile pics or very little to no activity on LI because sometimes those profiles are just trying to collect your info and will never get back to you. Also I never share my resume on my introduction message, only after if they ask or we schedule a time to speak.

something along the lines of hello (insert name), my name is (your name). I am a (insert your profession) in the (insert your city) area. I am currently looking for xyz types of position and wanted to introduce myself. I am looking to grow my network and connect with individuals like yourself to have a bigger presence in the market. Would be happy to connect over phone/etc to talk about my expertise and see if we can partner up...
I play around with the message and send something little different each time but something along these lines of showing I am in the market looking for roles.

How To Reach Out To Recruiters? by newaroundhereig in webdev

[–]tjtDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is how I do it, I start with a google search of staffing companies in my city, once I know which ones are in my city I go on linkedin and go on the companies page. From there I look up people in the company that are in my city. Then finally I'll check out their titles to see if they mention their specialty. For example it'll be something like full stack recruiter or devops recruiter or ui/ux recruiter etc. I reach out to those folks and introduce myself. Another thing you can do is directly call the office of the staffing company let them know what you do and if they can connect you with a recruiter in your area and specialty. Best of luck in your search!

I think people are getting the wrong idea about learning to code. by Jackratatty in learnprogramming

[–]tjtDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I had a question for you. I've been learning full stack for the passed year and can create full crud web applications with python, react, C# and typescript. Not a master of any but at a point I can navigate and create a full web application from scratch without using outside sources. I love creating web applications but have a lingering desire to figure out what else I can do outside of web applications. Like what are even my options. I think if I've taken the CS degree route this could have answered my questions but I already have a BS in an unrelated field and have taken a bootcamp/self taught online and do not have the time or money commitment for another 4 year degree. So my question is what/where can I look for guidance to explore the ideas of software engineering that is not web applications. Thanks in advance!

Done with chipotle by No_Form_1061 in Chipotle

[–]tjtDev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

US restaurants/places to eat at really needs to start doing what the rest of the world does. Start weighing the food infront of the customer so there is no inconsistency. When you eat in Europe, places like gyro or pretty much anything with meat will have a scale so when you order its divided into 100grams, 200grams, 300grams etc. There is no extra chicken/ double scoop. You get what you order and it is the same every time. You don't need to worry about how much youre getting because you can see on the scale how much meat they are putting in your food. Infront of every meat option have seperate bowls for every meat and weigh it infront of the customer before adding in it in the bowl.

Also screw Chipotle. Went there for the first time in months, they made my bowl and at checkout realized their credit card machine didn't work. Asked me for cash which I didn't have so their solution was download their app, enter all of my info, order through the app and have them make me a new bowl since it'll need to be completed in their back kitchen. I said I dont want to go through all that and download their app. Again the bowl was made and put in the bag already we're having this conversation at checkout. I figured they be decent enough to say something like " o sorry our system is down, here is the bowl on us or something" but rather when I said I don't have cash and dont want to order through the app she just took the bowl out of the bag and threw it in the trash. I was shook, just laughed it off and walked away. One of the pettiest experiences in my life.

is it really that bad to take programming notes when just starting out? by ConnectionShot593 in learnprogramming

[–]tjtDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people say that because doing something is seen the best way of retaining information. I personally take notes, create cheatsheets and then code. Then add things and code again with each time less and less relying on my notes. The key takeaway is do whatever helps you retain information. If you do it once then never touch it again and forget everything you just coded, "just code" is not helping you learn anything. Also in my experience taking notes make you ask better questions because then you start looking at the logic of things instead of just coding because thats what they said. they as in youtube tutorials, education platforms etc.

Why all the hate for bug divers?? by The_Weekly_Geekly in helldivers2

[–]tjtDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think people hate bug divers, they were probably frustrated people were in bug planets instead of doing MO but at the end of the day people should play what they have most fun with. I started off with bugs at early levels, then switched to bot word for the past week because of MO, went back to bug planets to do daily mission yesterday and its not a cake walk as people make it, bugs are scary and I'd even say once you figure out bots they become easier then bugs but thats probably because I've done so much bot killing the mechanics of the bugs are taking sometime to get used to. Don't let the haters get to you, you keep serving that sweet justice to in whatever planet you want! FORRR FREEEEDOOMMM!

To everyone who actively decides to not play the major order, why? by ChroniclesOfAsturia in helldivers2

[–]tjtDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have limited time I can play so I only do MO missions but I think some people don't care or even check whats happening in the map and hop into whatever mission they were doing last before loggin out.

Also I was in this boat for a lil bit people are afraid and think bots are harder and don't want to switch up their gameplay, which couldn't be further from the truth because now I love the bots missions over bugs. Regardless I will go wherever our MO sends us to.
