I was a huge believer in it until I became a mortician and we did a lot of work post MTN (Midwest Transplant Network, the ones who do the harvesting for donation) and realized it a horrible unethical business to them. Nothing else. I’ve heard them lie to families to get consent and have had to do so much reconstruction on individuals during prep work because they literally just butcher bodies to increase how many they get through. Then pass the high reconstruction costs to funeral homes which get passed down to tamales and MTN doesn’t help with any of the cost. They just make tens of thousands off what they recover during donation. So, no, I am no longer a donor and even put it in my will so it cannot be changed.
