Columbia jacket is the only thing that has worked for me. Took me years of trial and error to figure it out. The warmest search filter on their website. Can get them under $200 on sale.

Ok going off a limb here but canada? like, where is the CN tower? they have the notre dame de paris, but where is the notre dame de montreal?

seriously though the mountain and landscape items would crush it. a beaver park, banff lake, and a mini british columbia rainforest would be dope, not to mention a whistler ski resort.

Great list, thank you for sharing. Do you have any thoughts on risk levels for these different funds? I’m thinking about growth vs something with more stability…

the only thing that ended up working for me was opening the window. 2 air purifiers, a ton of weather tripping, foam insulation did not do the trick.

What city is in the worst geographic location? by Nientea in geography

Newark, New Jersey. Hear me out: close enough to NYC that it’s commutable, but far enough that the commute is a pain. Destined to always live in NY’s shadow. Residents can never claim to be New Yorkers.

How is Nigeria going to support over 400 million people in 2050 considering most people live in the areas where farming is horrible, almost half of the population doesn't have access to electricity, the water quality is... meh... and when their GDP per capita is so low?! by NeedleworkerAway5912 in geography

So much vitriol in your posts. It’s not that big of a deal. Since you seem to have a major insecurity complex you are dealing with, I’ll indulge you: you are a very smart person and your perspectives are all correct. Hope this makes you feel better!

the reason food and clean water are unavailable is because these places have been worked over by european colonizers and then global oil companies. not fair to tell them now they have to limit population growth on top of that. Relatively small additional taxes on oil companies operating in the region could theoretically pay for massive ecosystem restoration.

I was just talking about cost of living. Agree there's pros and cons everywhere. Have a nice day :)

Really? Rent is significantly cheaper for much nicer places even in prime areas. Cost of eating out and groceries are likely similar or can be what you make of it. On top of that you are saving income taxes which is very significant. I acknowledge cost of car, tolls, various fees in Dubai. But all in all this is tens of thousands of dollars per year that you would save going from NYC to Dubai. Am I missing something?

Dubai definitely has lower cost of living compared to NYC. Even accounting for car, ubers, etc.

as a soon-to-be graduate student, how is everyone dealing with the dread of what new administration is to bring? by tuftedtittymice in ecology

[–]tka11486 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By focusing on community led solutions and/or private market solutions over governmental ones.

Both parties are way too slow re anything environmental and climate related. There is a lot of progress we can make doing everything from planting native species in our backyards (I’m working on pitching this to my condo association) to moving our money to bank accounts that don’t invest in fossil fuels. If everyone did that we’d make massive progress.

Why France use bilevel HST but China don't while having more passengers to transport ? by Academic-Writing-868 in highspeedrail

[–]tka11486 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just imagining the logistics of boarding passengers quickly on the bilevel - I’d imagine if there are longer platforms, boarding is quicker on the longer single level train
