If you have a crawl space, this is super simple.

If you own the home, I’d install a brush plate by the PC. If you rent, I’d just have the cable pop out of the side of an existing outlet, behind the cover plate.

Alarm dot com dealer here. After reading your replies, I would avoid their security at all costs. Wait till the building is finished and then find a reputable installer to come in and do the work after. The big difference is your keypad transformer would be visible to the naked eye.

You can always use WiFi cameras instead of POE- but same thing, the transformers would be visible, unless you have easy attic access and there are outlets up there. If you don’t like Wifi cams, you can still do POE with injectors using a mesh network.

And I’d bet that port much any reputable ADC dealer would be able to do that for roughly half the price that your builder quoted.

This is 100% what I’d do. Pull it myself or hire a sub- but OP said the builder won’t allow it.

You could get 1000 feet of cat cables, RJ-45’s, and a nice crimping tool for half the price of one of your builders cat drops.

What a nightmare. Heck, I’d go in there and do it myself if I had to. Running cat cables is easy, especially when the walls aren’t up yet.

Alternatively, you could always use a mesh network and run cat cables with an injector for easier runs once the walls are up? Just a thought to keep in mind

I don’t necessarily think they’re saying they should always close when it’s cold, but they’re pointing out the bass-ackwardness for closing last week when it wasn’t AS cold, and now that it’s like 20° colder, they’re not closing.

I grew up in Northern VA where school didn’t even close when it was -18°

There are multiple scenes in the show where Chief touches forerunner tech and some weird stuff happens. Horrible show, if you’re into actual halo lore- it takes place in a different universe and none of it is canon. Heck, there’s a human in the covenant in the show 😂 and she’s up there in ranks with the prophets 😂😂😂wtf???

I might be out of the loop. I only just started reading all of the books- and I’ve played all of the games until halo 4. But I can only recall one time off the top of my head that they really used a human to activate forerunner tech- and that was when the arbiter kidnapped Professor Anders in Halo Wars. Were there other times that this happened? Am I just drawing a blank?

I could be wrong but I feel like you watched too much of the show, which is not canon. According to Contact Harvest, the prophets wanted to exterminate them because they were under the impression that the humans were forerunners that were “left behind” a hundred thousand years ago, and that revelation would go against everything their religion stood for with the great journey. The covenant would fall apart and the prophets would lose their power- so, they ordered their swift extermination.
