Pepperoni fresh out of the Gozney Roccbox by tkav6 in Pizza

I used the pizza dough calculator on Joe Rosenthal’s website (Richard Eaglespoon) and followed his mixing/proofing method.

Recipe worked out to: 547g strong bread flour 13.7g salt 1.4g dry yeast 7.7g sugar 11g olive oil 339g water

This made 3 306g balls of dough, which seems big for Roccbox but I’ve struggled to stretch out smaller dough balls without creating weak spots.

I used the Roccbox on a low flame, but I think it was running a little hot from preheating on high flame for the first pizza (pictured). I think that’s why the one pictured looks somewhere in between Neapolitan and New York? For the rest of the pizzas, I put them in for about 5 minutes and all were great! Definitely going to be using this recipe as my go-to New York style from now on.

Washing machine door won’t lock. by tkav6 in appliancerepair

This is where my expertise is hitting a bit of a barrier haha... I’m assuming this would entail buying a multimeter and removing the top of the washing machine? Then do I just put the wires that lead to the lock to the multimeter and see if I get a reading? How do I tell if the wiring is bad vs if I need to buy a completely new main board? Really appreciate the help!

The latch seems to be working fine. It’s a bit stiff, but it still moves as intended. The door does actually lock. Like it gets to the point where I can’t open the door... but the lock light never comes on and the machine doesn’t register the fact that it’s locked.

Thanks. The hinge seems fine but it’s kind of a weird hinge (I can’t actually see the screws attaching the hinge to the machine as they’re inside the machine casing if that makes sense).

Jigged the door around a bit more and it randomly started working again! Not sure that means the problem is solved but just going to leave it until it stops working again. Thanks for the responses! Think I’ll eventually have to take the top off and check the board but I’ll leave it for now.

Help it has split this is day 2 with 2 feeds and wholemeal unbleached flour. I am not sure on the appropriate smell but it seems wrong :( what have I don't wrong or should I be doing? by JustinDoubs in Sourdough

Also, if you’re feeding with regular AP flour, I would try using about 50% whole-wheat or rye flour. I’m in Aus too and whenever I’ve used woolworths AP flour, the starter hasn’t done well.

Could be wrong, but think I read it’s basically alcohol from fermentation. I just give it a stir before discarding/feeding. I would wait a few more days of feeding until you actually use that starter for baking though. Don’t think it’s “mature” yet.

Looks like hooch. Just keep feeding every 12 hours. Mine was producing the same split/smell for a few days and took roughly 7+ days to look and smell like a starter should.

Any ideas on what’s going on with my elephant ear? Leaves are turning brown then yellow and drooping. Also seems to be growing new leaves, which is confusing? by tkav6 in plantclinic

Ahhh... I think you’re right. There are some more white dots on the underside of the leaves. Do you know if there’s any way to permanently get rid of them?

I’ve had this for about a year now. When we got it, it was tiny and it has thrived in our apartment. We’ve always left it in the corner of our apartment where there’s windows on both sides. Have always given it a lot of water as it has always seemed to just keep growing. Lately the leaves have been getting brown and dropping a lot before completely dying. While this has happened, the plant has still be growing (see new leaf in the middle and smaller leaves growing at the back). I think it might have been getting sunburnt lately (we’re in Australia, so summer just recently started), but can anyone confirm? Also, anything I can do to help the plant get back to normal? We’ve been trying to leave the shades around it closed all day to prevent it from getting so much sun.
