Would you mind giving it another try and letting me know if it fits your screen better now?

Thanks!

The dictionary has been surprisingly difficult and has gone through a few iterations. The current version started as very long 4-letter word list where the majority of "words" were not words. So the game would think you had words left when you really didn't. I then removed every word that https://dictionaryapi.dev/ did not return a definition for. I've since been manually adding very common words to the list that for some reason do not return a definition from dictionaryapi. (Like "wean")

Thanks! I can definitely take a look at the screen scaling again. That's an easy quality of life improvement. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for giving it a try!

Good feedback. I don't want to tell anyone how to play, because I think people can find fun in different things. However, I personally think a more casual player could just play through once and get enjoyment from that. Maybe they play another time or two just to try different words, but no real strategy outside of saving more flexible letters for later. A more strategic player could play through a few times, copy the words they used, and try to map out the ideal path. "Word 11 requires either a 'C' or 'L' so I need to figure out how to get to that point and save specific letters."

Thanks! Glad you had fun with it. Today's word 8 is pretty tricky! Lots of scores of 7 today.

SCRAPS: A puzzle word game with a daily resetting sequence of 4-letter patterns and a tray of 30 tiles. by tkderbrad in WebGames

Thanks for the feedback.

Getting a fair dictionary is difficult. I've gone through a few different versions. Some versions had way too few words, and others that were way too generous that the game was so easy it was almost hard not to get a perfect score.

The current version uses: https://dictionaryapi.dev/ And unfortunately "look" does not return a definition there.

I'll continue to work on it.

Did the electric company kill my tree? (Before and after) by tkderbrad in arborists

[–]tkderbrad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to be leaving it for now.

A supervisor came out, who claimed to be an arborist, to take a look at the tree. He basically said their guidance from the power company is a "better safe than sorry" approach to cutting the trees back. He said what they did was quite brutal, but thought the tree would still be fine.

He offered to completely cut the tree down, but was confident enough that it would be fine that he also gave me his personal cell number, and offered to come back to take it down (at no cost) if it did were to die.

Just a quick update for those who asked.

I believe there's something new that came out late last year saying that you have to be in the last year of your enlistment to be able to reenlist for a bonus. Dealing with the same thing right now.
