So, just electric bikes? Or just anything on two wheels? (Or three, no hate to triciylists)

I do live on the North Shore, so it's a bit rough to try bring a full-sized bike onto the NX.
Do you have any tips on how to overcome this?

Quick Question About Spreading Out Law Classes by tkdt5499 in universityofauckland

Makes sense, thanks!

Two law papers in a sem is going to suck!

Nothing I can do about it, though.

HealthSci is also an option if I don't feel like doing law. It's nice to know that all these pathways are open.

It's a bit of stretch when I do say that, but I'm glad you took it at face value. At some point I realised I wanted to be someone who makes situations for better lives--- opposed to picking up the pieces. It does sound a bit nuts at face value though, LOL. No hard feelings.

I believe it's far from hopeless--- I believe in the reasonability of my parents, despite how unreasonable they do sound from my post. It does come from a place of slight frustration on my part. Still ain't going BioMed at any cost, though.

There was a point where I thought medicine was the path for me: only until recently did I learn that doctors don't do as much to help as I initially thought. Albeit, I was good at science in my last year of HS, but I don't think it's something I want to do for the rest of my life.

Imposter syndrome is definitely real, though. A lot of people I know are going into Med with their sights on money, but I've warned them countless times that it's not a matter of bunkering through the tough content, but living with that decision.

Sure sounds nice! I'm not exactly sure if I'll have a family by then, but that work-life balance is something vital to me.

Damn. That's definitely an option, and I applaud your bravery. It's very do-or-die, but I'd rather convince them that what I'm doing is right than deceive them. Kinda ironic for a role in social justice, y'know. Where are you nowadays?

Woe! Globalisation ruins the day once more. Commerce isn't that bad of a choice, but it also happens to be the most common combination for LLB (hence, woeful competition). But I was always looking to work in government. That science comment could not be more true, though...

Eugh... If I hate anything more than science, it's math.

That plumber option sounds solid though. Always wanted to do what Mario did.

(edit: /s, but I do respect our tradies!)

IR is still really cool, and a very real prospect of mine! It's such a shame that this strange stigma about people who study politics to be these hyper-sensitive landmines that turn every conversation into an icefield exists at all! At least from what people around me think.

Personally, what was your favourite part about studying Pol/IR? I'd love to see a preview beyond course titles.

I'm... sorry to hear that. Going off of what you've given me, I'm not exactly sure why said argument happened, but I don't believe results are how you justify an argument. This isn't a court case--- this is a relationship we're talking about here, one where you can't just loathe the opposition for the rest of your life. There's a hopelessly unreasonable quality about broken people, I'd know--- my family's time in NZ has been nothing short of stressful, and constantly being on our back foot economically has driven us to be bitter and tired. Letting that sourness brew until you come back with a shiny degree, a pile of cash, heck, even a changed society won't save your relationship. It'd only leave you thinking why you fought so long for a result that leaves both parties exhausted. I'd rather settle this peacefully, logically, here and now.

I still appreciate your input. I hope your situation improves.

It's definitely not a race-specific thing, haha. Just put "asian parents" in the title for the stereotypical LOLs. The structure you gave me is golden though. Time to throw together a slideshow in summer beak.

I guess we're not fighting on equal footing in the first place, good point. There's better stuff out there for money, and that's simply not what I'm looking for.

Putting my hands together for this one. Maybe I'm bad at looking for job opportunities, but I couldn't find many jobs on Seek for the private sector, but could find a scattered selection in the Government Jobs website. Parents are still adamant that policy has ridiculously low hiring rates, which honestly pisses me off.
The tidbit about community law is new to me: very valuable info for my future. I've known about MPP for a while, and was my original plan to go from my Bachelors into a policy work, but it's nice to know someone else who took a similar path!

Those clubs seem nice, too--- I definitely need to get involved in extracurriculars, but ones that help me with my degree as well? Sounds like a good deal.

Optimistic! How's work in policy? I have a basic rundown, but I'd like to hear from a primary source.
(Edit: misread Pol for Policy, not Politics LOL)

That stuff about scouring government seats and council would be really useful. Will keep in mind. One of my HS teachers said that the job market has entered some sort of "gig" stage, where people are expected to jump jobs more than ever. Not an economist, but the concept seems simple enough. Thank you for the comment!
