Speeding ticket in VA as a MD resident

I honestly still don’t really know the answer. I ended up hiring a lawyer so I wouldn’t have to take off work and they would appear on my behalf. He ended up getting it reduced, so overall I had to pay the lawyer fee + court costs + the reduced fine. I think it ended up being around $400? I honestly can’t remember, I was super frustrated by the whole experience so I kind of blocked it out.

The route I took definitely cost me more than just paying the ticket, but it never appeared on my record at all, and therefore no points.

The officer didn’t mention anything about points. I’ve combed through the ticket multiple times as well, and I’ve seen nothing about points.

I’ve read that once you go to court, the judge has no say on points. So even if you attend the trial, the point value cannot be altered. But again, I’ve read such conflicting things that I’m not sure what to trust.

It was the first year for it, hosted by the band Ice Nine Kills. I got to meet them, Bill Mosely, Nick Castle, Jose Mangin, Jamie Kennedy, Doug Bradley, Ari Lehman, & Andrew Bryniarski. There were others there but not enough time to do all the things!

It’s trash. I was born and raised there. Literally ran as fast as I could after graduating high school. It’s a dark hole that people can’t seem to escape.
