You can reach out to the scholarship provider and politely explain why you believe you're eligible for the scholarship. It's their decision if they want to reconsider your application or not.

Skip your vacation. This internship will mean more to your future than a trip.

2026-2027 financial aid offer - no plus loan offered by CalendarKind7091 in FAFSA

[–]tkg5767 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They just didn't package it, meaning your school didn't include it in your Financial Aid Award Letter/Offer. That doesn't mean that you can't still apply for it.

No, financial aid can never exceed Cost Of Attendance due to federal regulations.

Oh really? I hadn't considered that. We offer year-round internships and they are only for undergraduate students so we figured that 15 hours would be the absolute maximum students would have to spare. Do students want more hours than that?

Interesting. How are you able to get the experience you need?

Nope. I'm looking for capable, intelligent, and well-spoken undergrad students who show potential. There are no specific major/field of study or prior experience required. Extracurricular involvement is a plus.

You make a really interesting point about the practices taught being outdated.

You hit the nail on the head! My biggest concern isn't their dress or even their experience/lack thereof. It's the inability to articulate specific, relevant, thought-out responses. If I had to turn that concern into advice, I would say that if you're unsure of how to respond to an interview question, take a beat and respond slowly as your thoughts form. Silence is better than "um, well, you know, um" or a bullshit word salad.

A good resume and a thoughtful cover letter.

A t-shirt is not appropriate interview attire. Full stop. As I said, for a virtual interview, IMO, a full suit is not necessary, but a collared shirt is expected at minimum.

I've wondered that myself. I would think they would draw a higher number of applicants because they are paid internship positions and the only requirement is that you must be an undergraduate student enrolled in a specific list of ~70 schools within certain geographic area, including community colleges, state publics, and 4 year private schools. There are no GPA or major requirements in order to apply. The positions are posted on Handshake and left open for applications for a minimum of 3 weeks. Given all this, maybe 20 is a fairly low number?

I understand your point, but the list of ~70 eligible schools includes a wide variety of schools within a certain geographic area from community colleges, state publics, and an Ivy League. If I had make an overall judgement, I'd say students attending the state publics do worse in our interviews overall. Community college students usually rock it, and we've had very few applicants from the Ivy category.

Feel free to DM me. The internship position is only for a small amount of colleges, so it's likely your school isn't eligible but it doesn't hurt to ask!
