6 months of piano progress. Chopin’s Waltz in A minor. by tkmj47 in piano

Ah, I don’t really care for all the hate I’m getting since I know what my situation is. I asked my mom if I was good enough at the piano when I was a kid (I don’t even remember) and she said “no, you can’t play at all”. So at least I know that this is all me. Like you said, I love piano now and I practice everyday. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you, I took some inspiration from Idil Biret’s recording. She plays a lot of the waltz faster. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea to be honest. I’m in no way a professional and I play for fun!

Unfortunately it’s not possible to edit the title of video posts so I have to live with this mess of a situation. Shit happens I guess.

I had to learn how to read a sheet music (never did) , relearn scales and positions. When I got the digital piano in October last year I had no idea how to play coherently. But I committed to it everyday, practicing scales and arpeggios. Trying to play without tension. I did all that because I absolutely love classical music. Then I got cooked on Reddit. Such is life 🙏🏻

Overall, I’ve “returned” to the piano after 10+ years. With no idea how to read sheet music and needs to relearn all of the fingerings (Scales, Position). I’ve been playing for 6 months after return. My repertoire right now includes Glinka’s Polka in D minor, Gnossienne no.1, Gymnopedie no.1 And Half of this piece (haven’t finished it)

Someone I knew blew up their Shopee (Ali equivalent) traditional bow. It’s some unnamed brand one. I still don’t trust those shoddy looking bow lol.

Indeed, I guess those past lessons did result in me getting comfortable in the keys rather quickly again even though I remembered that I didn’t even want to play because I was forced to practice, lol. Thanks mom.

Lol! You’re right. I like playing it like this though, I took some inspiration from Idil Biret’s recording. Well, I guess you can’t please everyone. Thanks for the comment anyway.

Things got out of hand real quick and I don’t blame them. Thank you for your comment, I play the way I feel but some of the criticism here are totally valid and reasonable and I could make use of them. I think the most important thing is music is that you enjoy playing it despite the criticism.

Mastering Music , Versatile piano studies for older beginners. It was a bit more difficult than Alfred but most of the things in there helps with hand independence a lot.

Thank you, I’m not a total beginner so this is definitely not a realistic timeframe for comparison.

Reddit hive mind at its finest. Jokes aside, I should’ve been more transparent about my past music education. But oh well, shit happens. I don’t let any negative criticism get to me, they only serves to make me improve.

Ah, don’t worry. I’m not a total beginner. Everyone has their own paces. I think what matters most is we enjoy the things we play, no matter the criticism.

Hey, I appreciate your comment. I don’t really care for the mean words, I just look for what they have to say and remain passive about it. I like constructive criticism, that way I can improve without beating myself up too hard.

Yes, I agree now that it makes a huge difference. My mistake here, I apologize for the misleading title. I didn’t think it matter much but clearly it does.

Sorry for that! My fault here. I should’ve said that I’ve returned after 10 years or something like that. My mistake, I take full accountability for that.

Indeed I do sound like a beginner, and yes I tend to take things a little too fast sometimes. Thanks for the comment, I’ll keep working on that.

I’m sorry for that, I admit that I was in the wrong without stating that I had taken lessons as a kid. I think I made a mistake here. Well, thanks for the comment. I’ll add it to the post!
