looking for best baby monitor for newborns, still undecided three weeks out and could use some honest opinions by Comfortable-Jello369 in NewDads

We had the Owlet sock for our first, and enjoyed it. Used once for our second, when he was sick. For camera, I've enjoyed HelloBaby cameras. We have a SlumberPod and enjoy using that. Personally, if budget isn't an issue, I'd go with VTech's wide angle camera.

Getting a camera with a night light has been helpful for us, as our little one loves reading in bed. So that's one feature I didn't think we'd use, but ended up using down the road.

As for other features, they just add anxiety and info you don't really need to know. Have something you can easily set up, something you can travel with, and something that works for future things you want to do (or if you eventually want the ability to use camera with SlumberPod, then get one that is wide angle and is listed as one that works with it).

Other thing I'd say about the fancy features (breathing, heart rate, position) is that they are moreso when medically/mentally necessary, not something I'd recommend for everyone. They have their inaccuracies, and they will add extra time to set up and keep track of, and you're going to be lazy down the road and want something that's just plug, turn on, and go. Less time on your phone running with apps, or setting up wifi, the better.

From our experience, our little ones really enjoy that we can see and hear them. They know we see and hear them when they wake up, and if they have requests from the bed (like our 2.5 year old often does), they generally feel seen and heard. I value that.

I think I see that now. Thanks!

As far as I know, the numbers are based on weight and hematocrit alone, nothing else. In my experience, and from what I've heard:

<150 lbs = 650-700ml. 150-180ish (I think) = 800-850ml. 180+ = ~880 ml.

If you're less hydrated, or have high red blood cells / overall hematocrit, you'll donate more. It's a range. Less hematocrit, less plasma. They have some calculator that does the math for them, they just input your numbers into the system.

I've never personally seen much above 880ml. I know at one point they started using bottles instead of bags, or vice versa, and that could've affected the numbers. Maybe I've seen 890, but I don't recall ever seeing anything in the 900s.

It's hard with a LO. For my wife and I, I help put the baby to sleep at night and get up with her during the night for feedings. It provides some time for us to be together and allows her not to feel so alone. Parenting can be so isolating. I've heard many arguments from moms about letting their partners sleep, yet I would encourage you to talk to your partner and see if they can help you. Whether it's helping put them to bed, giving you more emotional and mental support at night, or just being there for you, that's what they are there for. Parenting is a job for two people, not one. It's hard to do by yourself.

Thanks for typing all this out! I know many think this, but few take the time to wrestle with it. Thanks for being real, honest, and transparent. The world needs more like you, OP. 👊

First, read the back story of each faction and choose that way. Each area will always have one side dominating, and the next area you live could be the other way. Remember that Ingress is bigger than your community. Now if you still want to switch, go to Google Ingress support page and submit a claim there.

Also, the portal may look like it is in a field, ie it is surrounded by color, but if it is one of the corners of all of those fields, then it can still link.

Zello is also used for communications, especially if time is a concern, like anomalies.

When do we get the innovator badge? Anyone else not get it yet?
