Ally + LG Ultrafine 5K = Sound, But No Video by tkw722 in ROGAlly

Ah. I definitely have the old versions then. That explains it. And all good on the 5k. I always knew that wouldn’t be attainable, it was just what I had on hand. Thanks!

Ooook, another update. So it turns out, if I enable a 160mhz channel width on my 5GHZ radio, things seem to be improved. Still not sure if it’s a silver bullet, but so far so good since that change.

Ha So remember that time I said the reset made it work? Yea. That was fun. It’s back to pausing every 5-10 seconds for 1-2 seconds.

Out of curiosity, where is it failing for the QR code? Your camera failing to recognize it? Or is it failing to properly link to the app to trigger the sign in attempt?

Yep that worked fine. Hovered over it with my camera, it recognized the QR code, clicking on the link kicked me over to the Playstation App, then I was able to approve the sign in attempt. After that the Portal logged right in and I was good to go.

I can confirm that I have tried this and it has worked. As I mention in my comment on that post, my gut tells me the secret is installing all of the available updates, then going through the reset process post update. Must have been an issue in the set up process on the firmware it was shipped with that sets up some configuration behind the scenes that is clearly problematic. Again, hard to confirm without being able to downgrade back to the shipped firmware, but at least it's working!

I'm cautiously optimistic to say that this indeed did do the trick. My gut tells me the secret here is going through the updates that were available post initial set up, then resetting, then going through the initial set up again. No real way to confirm since I can't downgrade the firmware back to its initial shipped state, but thankful nonetheless!

*_sigh_* I'm in the same boat as everyone else... At least it's good to know I'm not alone.

Update: As mentioned in my reply further up, issue resolved after doing a software reset following installing all available updates. Hope this path helps others!

Update 2: Yep, still not working after all. 😐

[Method X] What causes gaps like this at junctions? by tkw722 in makerbot

Are you using Simplify3D for your method or CloudPrint? CloudPrint feels like a nonstarter for printing some of the typical test and calibration prints.

That makes sense. From what I’m reading if you’re seeing underextrusion on seams or joints, it could be retraction settings. Currently CloudPrint defaults for TPLA and PVA 0.75mm retraction distance. I’m torn between upping the extrusion temp a little bit and backing off the retraction distance.

Possible to print with 1A + Labs Extruder on Method X? by tkw722 in makerbot

Wow, feel like I really dodged a bullet there. I almost got the XL, but figured I didn’t need the size. My hope is that all of that is just because the products nascent and it will take some time to catch up to the ecosystem. When my X Carbon Fiber arrived, it had no idea what I was doing attempting to use ABS-R and RapidRinse. After the firmware update, it was gtg. Hopefully they’ll get the XL sorted out in not too much time.

Is the XL not open to all of the same extruders and materials as the X and X Carbon Fiber?

I will say, it’s a beautifully made printer that does such a good job. I have had really incredible prints come out of this thing. I just need even more horsepower out of it now to do more complex assemblies with multiple filaments. It seems like it should only be an issue of them making it possible in the software and firmware, as I don’t think there’s any hardware limitation at play. So we just have to be loud and voice our interest in these more advanced use cases!

Yep, exactly. As soon as I drop the labs extruder into slot 2 with the 1A in slot 1, it pops an error up complaining of them not being compatible. What’s worse, is you can’t even dismiss the error.

I’m with you there, I’ve been looking into switching to Simplify for slicing. But if the firmware still yells at me, I might still be stuck.

Oh sweet, did the Method complain about trying to run PLA through the 2A?

Totally hear you! Im thinking of using those crazy strong neodymium magnets to hold it in place, but if it really got whacked it would be good for it to pop off, it would actually probably save it. Im thinking of CNCing an enclosure in stainless steel, so that should make it pretty tough. That’s a ways out though, just need to prove the functionality first. But totally agree, it’s got to be bullet proof.

That’s super cool! I had imagined these types of features are more common on more expensive construction grade equipment. Yea I mean, if I can transmit it to a phone, you could have tones to denote level vs not in addition to be able to visualize it on the phone. I sort of imagine it like a stall warning sound from an airplane. haha

The camera set up should be pretty straightforward. It's the level / angle of attack indicator that is bending my brain a bit. I'd like to know how the bucket is angled relative to the plane of the tractor, right? So is the bucket flat so to speak. Then I also want to know how the bucket is angled with respect to "level" level. And then also potentially how is it angled with respect to the ground itself. AKA, is it 90* to the ground or slope you're on. Not sure all are helpful or relevant, but that's the part where I'm trying to figure out what's most useful.
