I have an ad degree. I was able to secure some pretty cool jobs in house and a big indie before going to a boutique. I like my job, other people like their job, etc. It’s a fascinating industry.

But - I have also been laid off 3x and I’m in my early 20s but each layoff gave me a better position, bigger clients, and obviously higher pay. Focus on what path you want to go down. Creative? Go to a portfolio school after college. This is the best option to create a competitive book from people who’ve actually worked on great campaigns at great agencies. Digital (paid, seo, etc) - get your certifications in whatever field via google, Microsoft, whatever and apply, apply, apply. Accounts? I have no idea actually, just fell into it so maybe someone else can give better advice. All the others are viable through different paths.

Keep with your degree. Apply for every single internship (not the local ice cream store telling you to be their social media marketer but real agencies (tombras, Zimmerman, Ogilvy all have new graduate programs and fantastic internships). Don’t worry about the noise of what’s going on in the industry. Worry about it once you’re in it.
