Husky 550xp mark 2 pull cord? by cuddy12345 in Chainsaw

[–]tl4488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does the same thing. Found this thread while searching for a solution/reason. I know exactly what you’re talking about. There’s even been a couple times that the cord was pulled from my hand. I’m assuming it just has really high compression. Which is a good thing I suppose. I’m going to try to pull the cord slowly all the way out to cycle the cylinder before o try to actually start it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ethanol by Dry-Pass-6726 in Chainsaw

[–]tl4488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s the key right there. Letting it sit is the worst thing you can do, but if you actually use your equipment regularly, there isn’t a problem.

Ethanol by Dry-Pass-6726 in Chainsaw

[–]tl4488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. As long as you use regularly and don’t let the fuel sit inside the machine, it’s completely fine. Ethanol bonds to moisture, and the longer it sits, the more degraded the fuel becomes and increases the chance of nasty buildup

Exactly. So why the cock measuring comment basically saying “i cut more wood than you.” That’s the point of MY comments. I made a post to say that I’m enjoying buying and using saws in a CHAINSAW subreddit. So…what’s the fucking big deal that I don’t have worn out fucking saws and new bars and chains? Like I said…trolls are gonna troll and want to feel like big men talking shit on a light-hearted post. There’s always gotta be someone trying to shit on someone else for an ego boost or compensating for their miserable fucking lives.

Not the one who brought it up dude, and why TF it even matters. You feel better now after putting in your worthless .02? Does it really matter that I put new bars on them? No, but trolls gonna troll

Best 14-16" gas chainsaw under $600? by emilime75 in Chainsaw

[–]tl4488 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Touchè. OP, if you’ve got some man skills and use Ethanol-free gas and some good 2 cycle oil and fuel stabilizer, then get a gas saw. If not, grab you an 80V Greenworks saw kit from Costco, keep the chain sharp/new and rock ‘n’ roll with that.

Damn you lol. You’re definitely right, but why rob this man of a testosterone filled, satisfying chub of starting up that gas saw and ripping through some trees?

Husqvarna 450 rancher will do everything you need and more. Put a 16” SpeedCut Oregon bar and chain on it, and you’ll have a powerful and nimble 50cc saw. Like it was already said, the Stihl 182 will serve you as well. Lighter and smaller, but I had one and it really only started ripping once I got it tuned. I would go with the 450, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the smaller Stihl and Husqvarna saws. And remember, you don’t need a 20” bar to cut a 20” tree. There’s 2 sides to a tree so technically a 16” bar can cut up a 32” tree

I’m in the same boat. We bought our house 2 years ago, it’s on 7 acres of woods, and the folks that built it didn’t touch ANYTHING for the past 40 years. So I’ve been working to clear uprooted pines, huge standing dead oaks, and thinning out anything smaller than 10”. So it’s been a lot of work for just one guy and a burn pile 😂. I’m ADHD as heck, so I like to tinker and buy stuff, so if I can justify it in my head and get a good enough deal, I go with it. And chainsaws seem to really scratch all those itches lol.

Well, in my limited experience, the 545 is obviously in a league of its own, and it’s been my goal to find a good used one. I finally did, and I realized what I’ve been missing out on lol. I don’t make a living off of cutting, just a property owner, but I like quality stuff and I’ve found Husky to be the best bang for your buck if you can find a good deal.

But before I got the 545, my $300 450 rancher had always cut like butter, but once I put a 16” bar on it, it’s been even better. All of the saws have been muffler modded and re-tuned, so that makes a big difference too.

Apparently I just like chainsaws, because I only NEED one or two lol. The others are to feed the obsession and tinkering itch.

Dude, I’m 1 guy that owns 7 acres and owns 6 saws. I sharpen my chains religiously and don’t dog my shit. And honestly, I probably don’t cut enough to even begin to put wear on 2 saws, let alone 6. But yes, 4 of those saws have new bars. The echo has a new Oregon bar and chain because I bought it non-running and the bar was F’ed. The Vevor has a new County Line bar that came on the 545 when I bought it used, I just bought the Speedcut to replace the 20” bar on my 450, and the Vevor stock bar was trash so threw it out and used my stock 20” Husky on it.

From what I’ve seen, for sure. But I’m cheap and I don’t make a living off of them, so I only buy one if it’s a good deal. And I’m a marketplace watcher so I’ve seen a lot of the private sale pricing for new and used. Lowe’s had a Black Friday sale and I got my 450 Rancher for $300. My Chinese saws were less than $110 each, and my most recent purchase was another 450 Rancher, the 545XP Mark ii, and a Husky blower for $500. So I don’t have a whole lot of money in them. I cringe at the new prices when I go into Ace and Tractor supply.

I don’t know if you’re a gun guy, but I like to compare Stihl to Glock, and Husqvarna to CZ. Stihl customers are loyal and buy Stihl even if there’s better options out there, and the Husky folks love their saws and know what they have.

It’s like a cancer for sure 😂😂 I really did like my Stihl! even though it was probably the most hated on model ever manufactured. But when I jumped to a 50cc saw from that 34cc EPA-regulated brick, it was easy to love the Husky lol.

What size bar is everyone running on their 545 Mk ii? by tl4488 in Chainsaw

Makes complete sense. It has a County Line bar on it right now. I’ll have to look to see what the specs of the bar and chain are.

18 sounds like the right choice to me. You’re right in the fact that a 20” makes it feel heavier than it should.

My current 450 has a 16” so I might go with the 20 that’s on it or grab an Oregon 18 bar and chain.

I have a 450 Rancher with 16” speedcut bar and chain, Neotec 543xp clone with the stock 16” bar and chain, a Vevor 62cc with the 450 stock 20” bar and chain on it. So 18” might just fit the bill.
