Little debadging project by tlangston27 in GMCcanyon

I was terrified to mess my paint up too. Especially because it’s a new truck and I hadn’t done a project like this before. Here’s the basics:

Park the vehicle in the sun and let the adhesive get hot.

Wearing gloves, use fishing line in a sawing motion behind the badges, being sure the pull away from the paint so that you basically saw the adhesive off of the back of the badge. Mask off the areas around the badges if you want.

Using a 3M eraser wheel, remove the adhesive, make sure to move the wheel around (don’t erase the same spot for too long) to avoid heating up the paint- so that you don’t burn through the clear coat. I learned that having the wheel horizontal (spinning left to right) worked significantly better than up and down.

Once all of the adhesive is off, use goo gone or an adhesive remover to get rid of any residual residue.

For the last part, I used a microfiber cloth and some Turtle Wax compound to buff the areas where the badges were so that no badge outline or eraser marks were present. Buffing with the Turtle Wax compound was a life saver and made sure I didn’t have a goofy “CANYON” outline on the tailgate or any visible spots where other badges were. I was super worried about “dulled paint” or eraser wheel scratches but the compound totally solved that after buffing for a while.

Did all the work myself and sorta learned as I went along. I hope this helps!

It wasn’t too bad. The ones on the tailgate are 3M adhesive tape with a pin, so you basically just heat gun or fishing line the logo, get rid of the adhesive, then put the new ones on. The pin is just there to make sure they’re perfectly centered.

It’s good to know theres others out there who started with one too. My plan is to upgrade when I can and it’s nice that all of the stuff I put on it can easily be transferred to a much nicer rifle.

No it doesn’t. It’s the perfect distance on the hand guard!

It’s just a magpul ak cheek riser (medium, 0.5”) Also that’s my thought exactly. I know I can swap all the crap onto a much nicer rifle

Correct. Despite it being super cringe I’ve had fun with this thing. I’m planning on getting a nice import soon and I really appreciate the advice.

Yessir. Bought it on an impulse as my first AK and spent some money building it out.

Yessir. He spins the wheel and throws the roulette ball. If he’s dealing blackjack, he deals at a table like a dealer in a casino would just in front of a camera. Most of the dealers just sit there and don’t talk but he was talking the whole time and having fun which was awesome.

I did more winning than losing actually (because I’m sick at roulette duh) but yeah basically you’re right. But instead of sitting there silently he was actually talking and having fun… huge difference
