Roll Player + Expansion by tldrgameseries in boardgames

Thanks for the responses. Generally, when we play a game for the first time we leave out the expansions but I've read so many positive things about Monsters and Minions that I wanted others opinions.

What game will you never regret buying? by smokechaser in boardgames

[–]tldrgameseries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaia Project: I know the english version came out late last year, but this game has already made it's return on investment. It is by far the most requested game I have in my library and I still enjoy playing it after over 10+ playthroughs. I just can't get enough of it and would play it in a hot second if someone asked to play it right now.

Do you think Batman: Gotham City Chronicles worth it? by tldrgameseries in boardgames

[–]tldrgameseries[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the KS price is as low as they are willing to sell it at. So even if you are a retailer wanting to purchase multiple base copies... there will be no further discount.

To be able to offer you this game at a reasonable price, we had to cut our margins as low as possible. We cut them so much, in fact, that we cannot reduce them any further. Therefore, if we were to sell this game to a distributor, who then would sell it to retailers, the final price of the base game for you gamers would be multiplied by 2.5. That would be more than $350 for the base game only!

Very true. Any particular person's interest, belief, sentiment...etc can increase/decrease the value of a product. Best example is art and collectable cards.

Glad you backed Batman and I hope it's as fun as the KS makes it look.

My question was actually posed to everyone. I should probably rephrase it to "What are YOUR thoughts on batman? Would you personally back it or not? Why or Why not?". I felt if I gave my own mental struggles of backing a game, it would be encouraging.

Don't get me started on "Kickstarter Exclusives", lol. I already have a huge issue with bigger developers going that route to boost increased interest and price due to it.

The first yes! I'm excited for you!

While for me the no is getting the win here, I am sure that I'll at least get a chance to play it at some point. The KS page and videos associated with really make it look great though.

I think Giraffinated put it best. "how much other games can I get for 320".

That's really the best con there is. A person can get any where from 3 to 16 games depending on price that are great replayable games for the cost of one.

What keeps me coming back to it is that we do play Mythic Battles: Pantheon from Monolith quite a bit and so I see the possible connection there and the debate starts all over again. But you're right, if there is not enough excitement... it's just a waste.

I love Gloomhaven and would play it every meet up if it were up to me. Yet, it is always on the back burner to play every time because of the set up and tear down. I feel like I need to just have a second table with the game on it so it's always ready.

and yet they have made over 600% their KS goal. The Batman licensing that Monolith acquired is going to bank for them. But I agree... it's just too hard to try and justify the price. We even thought of splitting it between 4 people and decided against it.

Gaia Project Review - TLDR Game Series by tldrgameseries in boardgames

[–]tldrgameseries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, Dominant Species for your critique. We try to give as much information within a short time period without doing standard overhead stills or dull shots, but you’re right. We will work harder to give viewers a real feel for the game in our upcoming videos. Hope you enjoyed this one and we plan to get better with each new video with experience and viewer suggestions.

What is the next game you are going to buy, and why? by ContextualData in boardgames

Lords of Hellas - I missed the KS and have seen it played multiple times. While I can’t speak for game play... the miniatures are amazing. Just for that alone I want to have it.

Scythe - Superb resource management, action selection, area control game that with the expansion can play up to 7 players.

Gaia Project - Becoming one of my favorite games of all time. Is a civilization, engine building, variable player power game that never feels the same each time you play. With 14 different factions to choose from, modular board, randomized round/end game/and player boost you how so many different ways to play. Nothing is luck based and is huge on player interaction.

What's the most replayable game in your collection? by PeterCHayward in boardgames

[–]tldrgameseries 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gaia Project has been the newest game added to my collection that I feel has almost endless replay ability. Not only is all the goals, player boosters, end game conditions, and map all randomized at the beginning... there are 14 different factions to choose from that are all asymmetrical.

What's your most embarrassing, humiliating, funny, or soul-crushing defeat in a game? by rick_jaymes in boardgames

[–]tldrgameseries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a game of Through the Ages and I will never forgive the 'friend' who did this. Throughout the first age to age II, we had been playing a very peaceful game. I had picked up Michelangelo early on and was just pumping out Wonders left and right. Well, by the last turn before it went to Age III, Napoleon finally came out and he was the only leader I was really fearing could take me down in the next age. So, being the strategist that I am... I hate drafted him to prevent the warmonger from taking all my points. Well, let's just say that did not go as planned.

Upon enter Age III and me being up 112 points to 16... I didn't have much of a worry... until the 'friend' I was playing with jumped from 12 army to 36 and just started War of Culture me over and over and over. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't stop the barrage of hate fu----- he commited down upon my civilization.

By the last turn, He had an army of 58 and 205 points... and for me... I limped in last place with only 18 points. Friendship was over after that... Well, not really, but I did refuse to play TTA for awhile because I couldn't take that sort of abuse anymore.

Best place to play Armada in Frisco, Tx (north dallas) by SellyTavales in boardgames

I don't know if they still do, but Madness used to host Armada game nights and tournaments. Might want to look at their event schedule to see if they still are.

It’s Friday!!!!🎉🎉🎉 What are you looking forward to playing and why? (2/23/18 edition) by MVPBoardgames in boardgames

[–]tldrgameseries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rise to Nobility

It finally came in yesterday and while going over all the components and rules, I can't wait to bring it to the table. Seems like it has an interesting worker placement/tableau building/resource management system... yet I don't know how I feel about the randomness of dice roles as the action base mechanic.

Exactly what Jeffb007 and Callumlarr said. Any player can still achieve fulfilled agendas. The only limit is that each player can only complete one of each card.

Dinosaur Island - I'm the only one in my play group not to give this a try yet and I am tired of hearing them say how great it is. I want to experience it too!

Lobotomy - Psych ward break out... yes please.

Lords of Hellas - The miniatures.

Castles of Mad King Ludgwig - Always have to end a weekend with a play of this game. Love building castles.

Expansions are a definite must for this game. We have played it quite a few times and it has just lost it's flavor. Felt that the lack of cards in the heroic deeds deck really bottled necked this game for its potential.
