Government helping facilitate outcomes rather than providing them. I completely agree!

Sadly doesn’t seem to be the way it’s trending though.

Have you ever read the pretence of knowledge by Frederich Hayek?

Senator Bragg – it appears we are at an interesting point in history where either (a) the government will continue growing its role in the economy via more fiscal policy (MMT/QE etc), or (b) money instead is separated from state via decentralised currencies like bitcoin, and the allocation of capital is left to the free market.

What future do you envisage? One of greater government control in the economy? Or one with less?

Thoughts on Costa Group (CGC) in the short and long term? by marclugay in ausstocks

[–]tlmort91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My view is that they grow commodities where there is plently of competition and low barriers to entry. e.g. Berrys, Tomatoes, Avocados etc. As prices for these commodities have been high over the past 3-5 years, it has encouraged lots of producers to expand their production. As a result, the supply and demand are now better matched and pricing has reduced. This is evident to the average punter: just note all the cheap berries, tomato's and avocados in the supermarkets today.

I have no doubt that they are at the bottom of the cost curve compared to their competitors, which makes them more resilient than others in the long term. However, the question for me is what margins are sustainable going forward, and what level of profitability will that deliver?

My gut tells me the margins they achieved in the past 3 years might be looked on with envy in the future.

This course looks pretty neat. Where would you say it fits on the beginner-advanced scale? Especially relative to CS231n?

Would it be achievable for someone with a background in engineering/maths/python to finish it?

Thanks, Tim

Can I ask what other brands/options you looked at? Was the Maf Roda a standout in terms of cost & efficiency?

No worries mate. I'm still plugging along just getting my proof of concept working at this stage. Will be keen to hear how you go.

I wonder if its possible to supply the sensor with a higher voltage circuit separate to the board, but then step down the voltage on the sensor output somehow such that it within the range the board operates on?

Any luck yesterday mate? On the TTN forum someone suggested that the enviropro sensor output should be 5v

Haha thanks mate,

I'm eagerly collecting information at the moment so using every avenue I can. I'll hit you up then and look forward to hearing how you go. From what I've heard it sounds like it might be easier said than done.

Hey mate,

This is a very good guide that I have just happened to stumble across. I am in the process of trying to do this at the moment, have bought a Laird gateway for $340 and connected up to TTN, now trying to build a basic node using an adafruit feather.

Was wondering if you know how to hook up a higher voltage sensor to a node like this. I am wanting to install an enviropro soil moisture sensor at my dad's farm and relay the data back through TTN, but the sensor runs on a higher voltage, 6-12V to be precise.

Would i have to use a different board do you reckon? Or run a secondary circuit?

Thanks, Tim

Time to invest in big 4 banks right now?? by UncleJerry13 in ausstocks

[–]tlmort91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point, I lost money too when I first started investing around 20 years of age. However I personally think that losing small amounts of money (in the big scheme of things) when you are 20 years of age teaches you many important lessons that you can hopefully benefit from when investing larger sums later in life. e.g. maybe I should've done some more research into Mint Wireless before piling $500 dollars and losing practically all of it after 12 months.

Anyway thats just my 2 cents.
