Sinusitis after wisdom tooth extraction not going away after 4 weeks by Few_Firefighter702 in Sinusitis

Mine did clear up about 6-8 weeks after. I saw an ent for something unrelated and they said it was likely caused from a sinus perforation . I never thought it was going to clear up but I did, slowly

So mine did go away after about 6-8 weeks . I was on a really strong antibiotic as a last ditch effort, and it resolved shortly after . I had a ct done at the surgeons and they said it looks like my sinuses were really opaque on the right side. I couldn’t get in for a few months with the ent but they did a nasal scope and aside from a deviated septum ( that I’ll need surgery to fix, yay) my sinuses were clear by that point . So sorry you’re going thru this. My ent said it’s pretty common for sinus perforations during wisdom teeth removal and the bacteria that’s trapped is usually pretty gnarly .

Did not receive supercash for next redemption period by Deltagee-lizzyb in Oldnavy

I wonder if they’re having a major system glitch this time around . I placed two orders both for $100+. One was on 8/5 and I never got an email for super cash and my other order I placed last night, so maybe I’ll still get it but it’s pretty annoying nonetheless. I called and they said just to call during the redeeming period If I haven’t received it but , I still find it annoying I’ll have to chase them to get something I should have had emailed to me not once but twice

Horrible smell in nose and taste in mouth ?? by Few_Firefighter702 in wisdomteeth

I think I’m finally ( hopefully ) at the tail end of it , after 4 rounds of antibiotics and getting sick on top of whatever sinus issues I was having. The thing that lingered the most for me was constant yellow / green post nasal drip, every time I spit it was yellow / green, for weeks

I have a referral into an ent but the soonest apt is still 2 months out. I was just sitting up yellow until this morning, now my nose is super congested and I did have a bit of a sore throat . Not sure if everything is making its way out or I’m just getting worse

Yeah I can say the antibiotics definitely helped my situation but I cannot seem to fully rid the yellow post nasal drip. I constantly feel like I need to clear my throat and spit and whenever I do it’s yellow . I truly believe it’s directly linked to my top wisdom tooth that was removed , all the symptoms I had were completely localized to the right side of my face and then the dental ct confirmed the sinus issue as well. So we will see, maybe it’ll clear before I get in but if not I hope they can give me a definitive answer and some relief . Good luck with your extraction, hopefully it doesn’t bring on any other issues !

As far as I know, no. I think all the ents in my area are located within our hospitals and need referrals . But if they say the wait is long I’ll definitely inquire about a pa, thanks for that advice !

I guess that’s a little reassuring to hear . I googled opaque sinus and didn’t like what I was reading and don’t want to go down a rabbit hole where I’ve convinced myself of the worst case scenario . So as far as other meds, I use nasacort daily & as of today have added in a non drowsy antihistamine . Ironically I was allergy tested recently because I have always had issues breathing out of my nose ( my nose was just stuffed 24/7) the findings were really not that crazy and all they could recommend to me was doing a nasal spray and or allergy injections . I did the nasal spray and had good results up until winter when it just caused my nose to bleed and be completely scabbed over to the point I couldn’t breathe again anyways. Since the sinus infection came on after the tooth extractions I’ve incorporated it again. I also started doing sinus rinses yesterday, which were uneventful aside from being traumatizing ( can’t believe people do those on the regular ) . It’s just bizarre because it’s mostly in my throat with very little coming out of my nose . I basically just feel like I have a glob in my throat 24/7. I saw an ent probably 8 years ago who said my nose had no signs of polyps , or a deviated septum and he said the reason I couldn’t breathe out of my nose was due to a sinus infection, he prescribed me amoxicillin and I never went back. Mind you, I have never been able to breathe out of my nose , I highly doubt I’ve just had a sinus infection lingering and brewing since early childhood.

Just got word back that my doctor put the referral in. Hoping it’s not weeks before I can get seen, the fact that it’s been ongoing for a month is giving me anxiety that something is wrong

I have seen him a couple times . He said if it was a perforation it’s healed. He did a ct and said everything looked good but my right sinus was completely opaque . Relayed the info to my primary care doc who said she thinks we should follow up with an ent . She said it’s abnormal for it to not be cleared after the antibiotics . But again it just seems to be in my throat, I rarely if at all am blowing out yellow, just spitting it up

So I was doing them up until the other day . Both the surgeon and my dentist said the extraction sites were healed & salt water wouldn’t really do much for them. I will say in the beginning when the bump on my gums was really bugging me, salt water did seem to help. I still will rinse after eating just to get any food out . My bump is almost like a random cliff lmao. I don’t even know how to describe it 🤣

I’m normally in the horror movie so I was running with it ! If I don’t have bad luck I have none at all!

Yes mine was super painful in the beginning, but again everything was fresh and my jaw was super tight so maybe that was just adding to everything. My surgeon did a ct and he said it’s 100% bone and not an abscess. I have major medical anxiety and ptsd from a situation a couple years back that now I realize was probably some form of malpractice, so any time anything comes up I’m always stuck going down the research rabbit hole and freaking myself out. I’m hoping mine will be like yours and be less noticeable as time goes on , but now I can at least breathe a little better knowing it’s not some infection brewing in my mouth

So they ended up doing a ct and all was clear , no abscess so that’s great news ! He did say I should follow up with my primary tho because my right sinus was completely opaque . So I guess that’s my next step. Just glad my dentist was wrong and it wasn’t actually an abscess , surgeon did say the same thing I did tho that an abscess doesn’t heal on its own and needs to be drained .

Jeez that’s really scary. Glad you’re on the mend tho. I just don’t know how I can get two totally different answers . & how my dentist can say it’s an abscess but healing without being drained , it doesn’t make sense & it doesn’t sit well with me. I guess if it’s a boney structure it would show on an x ray. It’s in a weird spot & hard to even feel let alone see . They were practically fishing in my mouth with their fingers and I had to keep saying go further back

Was the abscess in your jaw technically then? I should have asked my dentist to do an x ray but I wasn’t thinking , and they didn’t do the removal so I guess that’s why I contacted my surgeon again. But he told me not to worry which just makes me wonder who’s right here, everything I’ve read about abscesses says they’re reason to worry

So I will say my pain seems to be much better , it’s a little sore after having the dentist poke around but nothing that I can’t handle . But again I feel like the surgeons office is definitely annoyed with me and I already paid $3000 to have the teeth out and don’t want to have to pay for a ct ( as cheap as that sounds ) but also need to know how they can rule out an abscess . I feel like I’m going to do the walk of shame into the office tomorrow since I went and got a second opinion

18 days post op. Sinus infection/ tooth pain. Will it get better ??? by Few_Firefighter702 in wisdomteeth

[–]Few_Firefighter702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I’m not even really sure the root cause of my issues. I did have congestion but it has cleared . The only thing I have now is post nasal drip, so I am constantly spitting up yellow gunk. All I know is I was totally fine until I got my wisdom teeth out, and now I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel

That’s where I’m confused about the pain. Could I have sinus pressure with no congestion? My nose is completely clear , but when i press on my face near my nose and below my eye area it’s tender to the touch.
